Manchester United Transfer News Roundup: Red Devils receive Gleison Bremer boost; Galatasaray want Aaron Wan-Bissaka, and more - June 7, 2024
Manchester United are working to upgrade their squad before the start of the new campaign. Erik ten Hag's team finished the season in eighth place in the Premier League and won the FA Cup.
Meanwhile, the Red Devils have received a boost in their efforts to sign Juventus centre-back Gleison Bremer. Elsewhere, Galatasaray have submitted their opening offer for United full-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
On that note, here's a look at the key Manchester United transfer stories as on June 7, 2024:
Manchester United receive Gleison Bremer boost
Gleison Bremer has admitted that he would like to play in the Premier League. The Brazilian defender has caught the eye with Juventus recently and is a target for Manchester United this summer.
Erik ten Hag is looking for a new defender to replace Raphael Varane, who has left. The Dutchman's team suffered due to an underperforming backline in the 2023-24 campaign, and Bremer could help sort out the issue.
Speaking to MARCA, though, the 27-year-old insisted that he's happy in Turin at the moment.
“Yes, the Premier League is a league that everyone wants to play in. But I think I’m at a great club, the biggest in the world and I’m happy. I just won my first title, and I want to make history here. It is clear that you can never say never. We’ll see what happens,” said Bremer.
Bremer is under contract with the Bianconeri till 2028.
Galatasaray want Aaron Wan-Bissaka
Galatasary have offered €10 million for Aaron Wan-Bissaka, according to Fotomac. The English right-back is no longer a first-team regular at Old Trafford, and his future at the club is up in the air. Diogo Dalot was the first choice for the position under Erik ten Hag in the 2023-24 season.
Manchester United are apparently looking for a new right-back this year and are willing to offload Wan-Bissaka. Galatasaray are ready to offer the 26-year-old a chance to get his career back on track. They have submitted their opening offer to test the waters, but it has been rejected by the Red Devils.
The Premier League giants will only allow the Englishman to leave for a decent fee. Wan-Bissaka appeared 30 times across competitions in the 2023-24 season, some of them being at left-back too. His contract expires in 2025.
Red Devils closing in on Erik ten Hag decision
Manchester United are close to a decision regarding Erik ten Hag's future, according to transfer insider Ben Jacobs. The Dutchman is under pressure at Old Trafford following an underwhelming campaign.
Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, Jacobs added that new minority owners INEOS are carrying out a thorough end-of-season review, which includes Ten Hag's performance assessment.
“The decision is expected on Ten Hag sooner rather than later, but the length of time it's taken just shows that this is a thorough end-of-season review, which was always the plan," said Jacobs.
Jacobs added that Ten Hag will be judged on many criteria, including his team's performances in the 2023-24 season.
“Manchester United are judging Ten Hag not only on last season, where there were highs and lows, most notably, a lowest-ever Premier League finish and an FA Cup win," said Jacobs.
He continued:
“But they're also trying to project what would he be like working under this new model, and that's the thing that's taken so much time because it isn't only about Ten Hag and his relationship with the players and his coaching style."
He concluded:
“After all, he's the only Manchester United manager since Sir Alex Ferguson who's won trophies in back-to-back seasons. It's also about, can he fit into this new structure.”
The Red Devils finished outside the top-six for the first time in the Premier League era under Ten Hag.
