Manchester United want to sign 3 Bayern Munich stars as Red Devils plot next phase of squad rebuild under INEOS: Reports
Manchester United have set their sights on Leon Goretzka, Leroy Sane and Alphonso Davies, according to Sky Germany. New minority owners INEOS are already planning for the future as they aim to get the club back to their heydays.
The Red Devils were pretty busy in the transfer market this summer, roping in multiple new faces. The Premier League giants are expected to continue the trend in the upcoming transfer windows.
INEOS have set their sights on the Bayern Munich trio at the moment and are hoping to prise them away in 2025. Manchester United invested heavily in their midfield this summer, roping in Manuel Ugarte from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).
However, the Uruguayan's slow start to life at Old Trafford, coupled with Casemiro's continued struggles, has prompted the Red Devils to turn to Goretzka. The German midfielder's contract with the Bavarians expires in 2026, and he is no longer a first team regular under Vincent Kompany.
However, the 29-year-old is reluctant to leave the Allianz Arena in January. Meanwhile, Manchester United are also keen to upgrade their attack and have their eyes on Leroy Sane.
The 28-year-old's contract expires at the end of this season and he is already in talks with Bayern to extend his stay. Moreover, Sane's Manchester City links might pose a problem in his move to Old Trafford.
Finally, the Red Devils also have their eyes on Alphonso Davies to address their troubled left-back slot. Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia's continued injury woes have forced the club to focus on that position.
Davies' contract at the Allianz Arena also expires next summer and he is expected to leave the Bavarians. However, the Canadian is a priority target for Real Madrid and United are unlikely to win that race.
How have Manchester United performed this season?
Manchester United have failed to impress this season and are 14th in the Premier League after seven games. The Red Devils have registered just two wins in the league, losing three others.
The English giants have won just three of their 11 games across competitions this campaign. Erik ten Hag is in his third season at Old Trafford and is yet to show progress on the pitch.
INEOS invested smartly in the squad over the summer and have already made multiple changes behind the scenes at Manchester United. Unless results improve, they could be forced to consider a managerial change next.
