"Many of these players won't be playing" - Pundit claims Amorim was frustrated with Manchester United players in Ipswich draw

Pundit Owen Hargreaves has claimed that many of the Manchester United players left coach Ruben Amorim frustrated in their 1-1 draw against Ipswich Town on Sunday. Former Sporting Club coach Amorim saw his new side drop points from a winning position in his first game in charge away from home.

Amorim was appointed as the head coach of the Red Devils after the club decided to part ways with Erik ten Hag back in October. The Portuguese schemer had led Sporting to the league title in Portugal in the 2023-24 season, and left the side after winning all of his games to start the 2024-25 season.

Amorim had barely a week to prepare the Manchester United players for the game against Ipswich Town, and Hargreaves said the coach was unsatisfied with their performance. The pundit claimed that Amorim was particularly unhappy with Diogo Dalot and Joshua Zirkzee, and predicted that many of the players will lose their places in the squad in the coming weeks.

He said (via @UtdFaithfuls);

"He was in front of me, and he was really frustrated, I'm not going to lie. He wasn't happy with Dalot's positioning in the first half. Zirkzee's positioning in the second half made him a bit frustrated as well. Many of these players won't be playing in three, four, or five weeks time."

Manchester United made an excellent start to the game at Portman Road, scoring after just 81 seconds following a sweeping move, which started with Andre Onana in his box. Amad Diallo set up star forward Marcus Rashford to score the first goal of the Amorim era, his second in the league this season.

Ipswich recovered strongly and could arguably have won the game, with Onana coming to their rescue on a number of occasions. Omari Hutchinson scored their equaliser in the 43rd minute and they threatened to find a winner until the end of the clash but to no avail.

Ruben Amorim blames Manchester United draw on short training time

Manchester United coach Ruben Amorim has blamed the international break for his side's 1-1 draw away from home against Ipswich Town. The Red Devils extended their unbeaten run in the league to three games after their stalemate in Amorim's first game in charge.

Marcus Rashford put the Red Devils ahead before former Chelsea youngster Omari Hutchinson scored his first Premier League goal of the season to draw his side level.

Amorim was unsatisfied with the result, and he told Sky Sports that the draw was a result of his players overthinking due to a lack of time together in training.

"I think my players were thinking too much during the game. You could feel it. Just two days [with the full squad]," he said via Utd District.

Amorim had his full squad at the club's Carrington base for just two days of training ahead of the game against Ipswich Town. The duo of Manuel Ugarte and Alejandro Garnacho returned late from international duty, having travelled to South America with Uruguay and Argentina, respectively.

They will look to turn things around when they take on Bodo/Glimt in the Europa League on Thursday, November 28.
