Mark Lawrenson makes bold prediction for Brighton vs Manchester United

Mark Lawrenson has predicted Brighton & Hove Albion to beat Manchester United in their Premier League clash on Sunday (May 19). The two teams lock horns at the AMEX Stadium on the final matchday of the campaign.

The Red Devils beat Newcastle United 3-2 in their previous game on Wednesday (May 15). On the same day, Brighton suffered a 2-1 defeat to Chelsea. Lawrenson, however, believes Roberto De Zerbi's side will look to finish the season strongly. He has predicted the Seagulls to get the job done against the Red Devils. Lawrenson claimed (via PaddyPower):

"Brighton have been disappointing bu they'll want to finish on a good note at home. I'm going to go for Brighton to just do that."

Brighton are currently 10th with 48 points from 37 matches. They have won only one of their last five league matches, drawing one and losing three. Manchester United, meanwhile, are eighth with 57 points from 37 games. The Red Devils have won two, lost two, and drawn one of their last five league matches.

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag provides fitness update ahead of the Brighton game

Ahead of the Brighton game on Sunday, Erik ten Hag has claimed that Raphael Varane and Victor Lindelof could be back in the Manchester United team.

Ten Hag, however, doesn't expect Luke Shaw to be back. He told the media (via The Peoples Person):

"We are working to bring players back. Licha had a good season now as well, others on the pitch, like Rapha, Victor Lindelof, we have to see how far they're off on Sunday. Tomorrow we're off. Saturday, we've training."

Ten Hag further claimed that it's unlikely that Luke Shaw will be able to feature. However, he confirmed that further analysis of the left-back's fitness status will be made ahead of the Brighton game.

"Luke is more complicated, in this moment, let's say it's a less chance that he will make it. But there is still a very small, reduced chance," ten Hag added.
