“Maybe Cristiano Ronaldo wouldn’t - Ex-England star makes ‘selfish’ claim about Portugal hero in Harry Kane and Kylian Mbappe comparison

Euro 2024 is slowly reaching its business end, and juggernauts like Cristiano Ronaldo, Kylian Mbappe and Harry Kane have set their sights on the coveted trophy. The three of them are some of the best goalscorers of their generation. However, if it comes to bartering personal goalscoring milestones for an individual trophy, who will do it with the least difficulty?

Former English player Danny Mills commented on the same in his recent interview with BetVictor. The former Leeds United man suggested that Ronaldo will not be happy if he wins another Euro unless he also wins the Golden Boot.

However, players like Kylian Mbappe and Harry Kane would always prioritise collective trophies over individual accolades, according to the 47-year-old.

"I know centre forwards can be a little selfish at times, but I think Harry Kane would accept one goal in the Euros and winning it. Kylian Mbappe hasn’t scored in the Euros before. I'm pretty sure he would take one goal and a tournament win too. But maybe Cristiano Ronaldo wouldn't," commented Mills in an interview with BetVictor. (via GOAL).

According to Mills, winning the Golden Boot depends on several variables. Someone may have an excellent day, score three or four goals in a match and suddenly enter the race.

The former England international also said that it depends on how many games a player plays and how many penalties they take in games.

"If someone has that perfect game and suddenly goes from one goal to maybe four, then of course they're in with a shout. It's always very, very difficult to predict. Winning the Golden Boot depends on how far you go in the tournament of course.
"Obviously, the more games you get, the more opportunities you will have. It sometimes depends on who is taking penalties too - that can make the numbers a little lopsided," continued Mills.

Finally, he explained that a solid backline and a skillful goalkeeper are crucial for any team aspiring to win major tournaments.

"You've got to have a strong defence and a very, very good goalkeeper to win major tournaments. Sometimes that's overlooked,” concluded Mills.

All three of Kane, Mbappe and Ronaldo's teams - England, France and Portugal respectively - are into the Euro 2024 knockouts
