"Maybe he feels like a woman or something" - Jens Lehmann goes on bizarre rant against Germany star after EURO 2024 exit

Former Germany goalkeeper Jens Lehmann has blasted Robert Andrich for his haircut at Euro 2024. The Bayer Leverkusen midfielder sported a bright neon pink Mohawk in the 2-1 extra-time loss to Spain in the quarter-finals on Friday (July 5).

The former Arsenal shot-stopper, shared his opinion on the trim through German outlet WELT, writing:

“Nowadays, you have to be careful because maybe he feels like a woman or something. You have to be very tolerant. In the context of a national football team, which is the elite, I think that at some point it becomes a bit too much.”
“First it was blond hair, now it’s pink hair. What is he trying to show us? Does he somehow have personality problems that he has to stand out like that? As a teammate, I would have found it very strange. And I don’t think the national coach thinks it’s so great either”

The former Germany shot-stopper continued:

“What if the opposing goalkeeper is wearing a pink shirt today? The pink is extremely bright, it’s totally irritating on the football pitch. I expect that UEFA will ban hair colors like Andrich’s. Because that can lead to confusion among opponents.”

Germany were eliminated from Euro 2024 after a late winner from Mikel Merino deep into extra time.

Germany boss does not involve himself in hairdressing matters after midfielder unveils new haircut at Euro 2024

Germany head coach Julian Naglesmann has revealed that he does not involve himself in the hairdressing affairs of his players following Robert Andrich’s new haircut at Euro 2024.

The midfielder recently unveiled a bright pink Mohawk ahead of die Mannschaft’s quarterfinal clash against Spain in Stuttgart on July 5. Speaking to reporters about the haircut, the former Bayern Munich manager said (via Metro):

“Everyone has their own way. I always stay relatively out of the hairdressing issues. In the end, there are hairstyles that suggest a little more top performance than others. Whether Robert is one of them with his is something you have to judge for yourself.”

Andrich came on as a substitute for Germany in the second half but could not stop Mikel Merino heading in the winner late in extra time to knock the hosts out of Euro 2024. The midfielder completed 84 percent of his passes, created two chances and got a shot on goal in his 75 minutes on the pitch.
