"Maybe he would increase his levels" - Bastian Schweinsteger admits that he'd like to see Manchester United star in a better team

Former Manchester United midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger has claimed that he would love to see Marcus Rashford play for a better team than the Red Devils. The German football great has insisted that Rashford is a player who can decide games on his own but needs to believe in himself more.

Schweinsteiger spent two seasons at Old Trafford during the same time when Rashford broke into the first-team. The former World Cup winner remains a huge admirer of the Englishman and reckons he needs more self-belief and trust from his peers.

The former Bayern Munich star said, as quoted by The Boot Room:

“I would love to see him in a better team where he gets the balls in the right moments. In the past you don’t really see that, so if he would play for a different team maybe he would increase his levels a little bit more. He is still a player who can decide games but he doesn’t show it too many times because maybe also inside he’s a bit frustrated with how it is.”

Schweinsteiger added:

“I think he has to understand he can be the example. You can handle frustration differently, someone needs to tell him and speak with him but also it has to come from his own. It’s very important. Sometimes you have coaches who tell you to stay left or stay right but you need to understand that if you play for Pep Guardiola you need to understand what he wants and then you have to do it. You cannot just go to someone and say I run fast and decide games, you need to help and he needs to understand why.”

Schweinsteiger shared the pitch with Rashford on six occasions during his time at Manchester United and never finished on the losing side. The Red Devils won four of those six games and drew twice.

Rashford enjoyed the best season of his career last time out under Erik ten Hag as he found the back of the net 30 times and produced 10 assists in 56 games. However, his form has fallen off a cliff this season as he has only scored eight goals and provided five assists in 39 games across competitions.

Former Manchester United star explains why he snubbed talks with Erik ten Hag before departing the club

Former Manchester United star Andreas Pereira has shed light on his exit from Old Trafford and claimed that he resisted talks with Erik ten Hag. The Brazilian moved to Fulham in 2022 in a deal worth £10 million and has impressed for the Cottagers.

The 28-year-old has insisted that he wanted regular first-team football which was not feasible at Manchester United. Hence, he snubbed talks with Ten Hag who only took charge of the club during that time. The Fulham star said:

"I didn’t want to speak to Erik because I knew him and I knew that, at the time, it was always a conversation, like, ‘Andreas, stay here. You’re not going to play every game, maybe one game in every three, you’ll be around the squad’. That’s not what I wanted, I wanted to play."

Pereira has scored thrice and produced nine assists in 40 games across competitions for Fulham this season. During his 11-year spell at Manchester United, he only managed to make 75 appearances for the Red Devils scoring four times while providing five assists.
