“Maybe his last season”, “He saved us 100’s of times” - Real Madrid fans fear player will leave club after being left out of line-up vs Celta Vigo

Real Madrid fans have raised concerns about Rodrygo’s future at the club after the 23-year-old was left out of the starting XI against Celta Vigo. Los Blanco travel to the Estadio de Balaidos to trade tackles with Os Celestes in LaLiga on Saturday, October 19.

Ahead of the clash, the club shared their starting lineup on X. Carlo Ancelotti has lined up his side in a 4-42 formation. Goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois returns to the team after picking up a knock a few weeks ago.

Antonio Rudiger and Eder Militao are the centre-back pairings. Ancelotti has deployed Lucas Vasquez at right back to deputize for the injured Dani Carvajal, while Fran Garcia is at left-back.

The midfield is as expected with Jude Bellingham, Eduardo Camavinga, Aurelien Tchouameni, and Federico Valverde. While Vinicius Jr and Kylian Mbappe spearhead the two-man attack.

Fans toot to X to express their displeasure with the coach’s decision to omit Rodrygo from Real Madrid's starting lineup to face Celta Vigo.

“Yeah it's over for Rodrygo. It may be his last season,” a fan wrote.
“Where is Rodrygo man, come on carlo he has saved us 100's of times man,” a second fan posted.
“Where’s rodrygo , not wanna hear any excuses for being tired , camavinga, tchouameni and Valverde all played during the international break,” a third fan another fan asked.
“There is Mbappe and no Rodrygo???,” said a fourth fan.
“Rodrygo?,” one user tweeted, questioning the Brazilians absence from the starting XI.
“Rodrigo dropped again,” another user tweeted.
“Rodrygo ? Carlo out,” one fan commented.
“Again no rodrygo why bro,” one user lamented.
“Rodrygo is leaving yeah,” chimed in another.

How has Rodryo performed for Real Madrid this season?

Rodrygo has been a key member of Real Madrid's setup this term. The Brazilian has featured in all but one of Los Blancos' games across competitions this season. He has played 11 times, contributing three goals and two assists, with three goals and an assist coming in nine league games.

Ancelotti had previously deployed him on the right wing in a 4-3-3 formation. However, against Celta Vigo, the Italian manager has opted for a four-man midfield consisting of two holding midfielders, leaving no space for Rodrygo in the starting XI.

The decision to start the 23-year-old from the bench could also be a result of his involvement during the recently concluded international break. Unlike Vinicius Jr and Kylian Mbappe who rested during the break, Rodrygo featured for Brazil in their 2026 World Cup Qualifiers against Chile and Peru.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid are second in the LaLiga table, three points behind leaders Barcelona. They will be keen to close the gap between them and their rivals who will face Sevilla at home tomorrow (October 20).
