Mohamed Salah believes Liverpool have to be better in one key area after their 6-3 win over Tottenham
Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah believes that they should be better in defense despite their 6-3 win over Tottenham Hotspur on December 22 in the Premier League. Salah scored a brace and bagged two assists in the game at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Mohamed Salah has been in exceptional form for Liverpool this season, recording 18 goals and 15 assists in 24 outings across competitions. Salah became the first Premier League player to reach double figures for goals (13) and assists (10) before Christmas. He also became the Reds' fourth all-time leading goalscorer with 229 goals.
Despite his remarkable performance and a big win, Mohamed Salah claimed Liverpool must improve defensively. The Egypt international said in the post-match interview (via Fabrizio Romano):
"I just keep working hard! We were quite good in front. Defensively we have to improve as a team. To concede three goals is quite hard. Virgil will speak better than me about that."
The three goals conceded by the Premier League giants came as James Maddison (41'), Dejan Kulusevski (72') and Dominic Solanke (83') scored for Spurs. They scored more than their xG of 1.25, which proves Salah's point of the Merseysiders faltering in the defense. Furthermore, the Reds committed as many as nine free-kicks, many of which were in and around the penalty box.

"No, no" - Mohamed Salah opens up on contract updates with Liverpool
In a post-match interview with Sky Sports after Liverpool's 6-3 win against Tottenham, Mohamed Salah explained whether there are any updates about his contract with the Reds.
"No, no. It’s great to achieve that at such a big club. Wherever I am going to end my career I am happy about it," Salah said (via Fabrizio Romano).
Salah's contract with the Merseysiders is set to end in June 2025. However, there are no reports of him extending his stay or discussing a new deal with the club. According to a recent report by The Mirror, the Reds are close to renewing their contract with the star forward.
The club wanted to extend the contract by a year but Salah's agent reportedly demanded a three-year extension. A compromise has allegedly been reached over a two-year deal. Money was not a deciding factor in the negotiations, per the report.
Since arriving from Roma in 2017, the Egypt international is often considered one of Liverpool's legends. Salah has won multiple trophies with the Reds, including one Premier League title, one UEFA Champions League title, and one FA Cup. He has recorded 229 goals and 103 assists in 373 appearances across competitions for the club.
