“Most unambitious player of all time”, “Never wanted him” - Chelsea star branded ‘total waste’ by fans after 2-0 loss to Newcastle
Some Chelsea fans online have slammed attacker Joao Felix after his performance in the defeat against Newcastle United on Wednesday, October 30. The Blues were eliminated from the EFL Cup after losing 2-0 at St. James' Park in their Round of 16 clash.
Felix played the entire 90 minutes but was unable to make a big impact. He completed 25/29 passes, completed 1/1 dribble attempts, missed one big chance, won 3/7 tackles, and had six shots. (All stats are taken from Sofascore on October 31, 12:00 pm, and are subjected to change).
After the west London side lost, a number of their fans slammed Felix on X. One fan wrote:
"The most unserious and unambitious player of all time. There’s no way Joao Felix is breaking into Chelsea team A with this nonsense he’s playing"
Another fan asserted:
"Joao Felix is the laziest footballer I have ever watched. The second things dont go his way he drops his head and sulks. He loses the ball? he doesnt even bother to chase it down. He spends 90% of the game walking. Never wanted him not even when he was on loan here. Total waste."
Another compared Felix to Conor Gallagher, writing:
"𝗔𝗱𝗺𝗶𝘁 𝗶𝘁, Joao Felix is a big downgrade."
Another fan wrote:
"Joao Felix will be the only player to flop twice at the same club"
A Manchester United fan chipped in with:
"Joao Felix was such a pointless signing for Chelsea."
"Nah, Joao Felix is actually useless," another fan wrote.
"Joao Felix has played 28 games for Chelsea in total, primarily as a 10. He has one assist. Against a League 2 team," one fan pointed out.
Another fan tweeted:
"Honestly, time for babysitting is over. I need Joao Felix to wake up and smell the coffee. I am fed up with his lack of performance. No one gives 2 cents about doing well in the Conference League. When it matters you must deliver. He doesn’t deserve to see any mins in the PL!!"
"I’ve been very supportive of João Félix since we acquired him. Tonight he has made that very difficult," another fan admitted.
Chelsea signed Felix from Atletico Madrid for a reported fee of £46.3 million in the summer. He's scored three goals and provided one assist in nine games across competitions this season.
Newcastle exact their revenge as they eliminate Chelsea from EFL Cup
Chelsea and Newcastle United faced off at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League on Sunday, October 27. In an enthralling affair, the Blues came out on top winning 2-1. Hence, coming into the EFL Cup Round of 16 clash at St. James' Park on Wednesday, the Magpies were expected to push for a win.
They got an excellent start as Alexander Isak scored in the 23rd minute after Newcastle's pressure led Chelsea to concede possession easily. Just three minutes later, Axel Disasi inadvertently put the ball in his own net after a header from Joe Willock. Both sides created plenty of chances and the hosts even hit the post but the scoreline remained 2-0.
Newcastle, hence, qualified for the quarter-finals of the EFL Cup and will face Brentford at St. James' Park on December 17.
