“My little brother MVP” - Nico Williams shares dressing room snap with Lamine Yamal after Spain reach Euro 2024 final

Nico Williams has praised his teammate Lamine Yamal following his Man of the Match performance in the Euro 2024 semi-final in Munich on Tuesday (July 9). The 16-year-old helped his nation overcome France 2-1 to reach the final.

Yamal became the youngest goalscorer in the European Championship after netting a 21st-minute equaliser as Spain rallied from behind to seal a ticket to the European Championships final for the first time since 2012.

The Barcelona youngster was handed the MVP award for his outstanding performance. Nico Williams celebrated his teammate's achievement by sharing a dressing room snap with the caption:

"My little brother MVP."

Yamal and Williams have been outstanding for La Furia Roja at the ongoing tournament.

Both players have been key members of Luis de la Fuente's set-up at Euro 2024. Yamal has registered a goal and three assists in six games, while Williams, the Athletic Bilbao star, has a goal and an assist in five games.


Lamine Yamal on cusp of becoming youngest player to win the European Championship

Wonderkid Lamine Yamal could become the youngest player to win the European Championship after Spain reached the Euro 2024 final. The three-time European champions face the winner of the other semifinal between the Netherlands and England in the final in Berlin on Sunday (July 14).

Yamal has been instrumental for La Roja, setting records along the way. He became the youngest player to feature at the Euros when he made his debut against Croatia in a 3-0 group-stage win. In that game, the 16-year-old also became the youngest player to provide an assist in Euros history after creating Dani Carvajal's goal.

Against France, Yamal reached another milestone by becoming the youngest player to score at the European championship when he restored parity for his side with a beautiful strike in the fist half.

If Spain win the tournament, the Barcelona youngster will become the youngest player to lift the title. Lamine Yamal turns 17 a day before the final, which would make him 17 years and a day old at the time of setting the potential record.
