“My main goal” - Forgotten Real Madrid loanee signals desire to prove his worth at the club
Forgotten Real Madrid loanee Reinier Jesus has expressed his ambition to showcase his talent for the Madrid giants.
Jesus, an attacking midfielder by trade, is currently on loan at Serie A club Frosinone. He bagged three goals and two assists in 23 appearances in 2023-24. The Brazilian is keen to prove his worth at his parent club.
He said (via Madrid Zone on X):
"My biggest goal now is Real Madrid. It's my main goal, but step by step and with a lot of hard work. My head is at Real Madrid from now on. I am in constant contact with Juni Calafat."
Jesus added:
"After every game he sends me messages and congratulates me. He makes us loanees feel valued."
Calafat is the La Liga club's head of scouting. He has overseen the signings of players like Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo, and recently Endrick.
Jesus, meanwhile, joined Los Blancos in January 2020. He was tipped to follow Vinicius and Rodrygo's footsteps. However, his career didn't pan out as expected.
After six months without playing a single game, Jesus left to join Borussia Dortmund on loan. He barely played for the Bundesliga club and joined Girona in 2022.
Jesus went to Frosnoine on loan last year. He has since had a slight resurgence. The player has also gotten slightly better with his fitness struggles and is aiming to prove his worth in the Spanish capital.
Reinier Jesus's previous comments on Real Madrid transfer
Reinier Jesus joined Real Madrid at the tender age of 18. He revealed in a March interview how his move came along. Jesus stated that he was in the Club World Cup with Flamengo when he heard from his father about the transfer.
Jesus added that given it was a club of Los Merengues' size, saying no was never an option. He said (via Madrid Universal):
"When my father told me it was Madrid, my stomach ached, I didn't believe it because I was in the Club World Cup with Flamengo and with the national team afterwards, but everything was already prepared."
Jesus added:
"My mates in the national team were flabbergasted because it was Madrid. They congratulated me, but it's different, Madrid is Madrid."
Jesus' dream move hasn't gone down as he would have hoped. He has also not helped his case with his loan spells away from the club. Fans will keep a keen eye on Jesus' future.
