Newcastle United set to make move for 21-year-old star previously linked with Chelsea - Reports
Newcastle United are prepared to make a move to sign England U-21 international James Trafford, who was on the radar of Chelsea, this summer. The Magpies are intent on signing a new goalkeeper to contend with Nick Pope for the starting berth at the club.
TBR Football has confirmed that Eddie Howe's side are keen on Trafford despite having already signed Odysseas Vlachodimos and veteran John Ruddy. The Burnley man will cost them in the region of £30 million to sign this summer.
English youngster Trafford made headlines when he shone for England's U-21 side last summer as they won the U-21 Euros. He earned a move to Burnley from Manchester City, but found the transition too steep, losing his place in the Clarets' XI by the end of the season.
Trafford remains one of the most highly rated young goalkeepers in England, and he made the preliminary squad for Euro 2024. The 21-year-old caught the eye of Chelsea with his showings at Burnley, but the Blues decided to instead move for Filip Jorgensen.

James Trafford was highly rated while in the Manchester City academy, with manager Pep Guardiola once extolling his virtues as a youngster. He looks set to begin the season as first-choice at Turf Moor but could yet return to the Premier League before the window shuts.
Newcastle United close in on former Chelsea star - Reports
Newcastle United are close to completing the signing of Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi on a permanent deal this summer, as per Fabrizio Romano. The England international is the priority target for Eddie Howe's side as they look to add a new centre-back.
Guehi, formerly of Chelsea, is valued at around £65 million by Crystal Palace, who will be in no hurry to sell him this summer. The Eagles have already made one big-money sale in Michael Olise and would only sell Guehi if their valuation is met.
Marc Guehi starred for England at Euro 2024, starting all but one of the Three Lions' games as they reached the final in Germany. The Englishman remains the subject of negotiations between the two clubs, and could soon swap London for Tyneside.
