NFL superstar Patrick Mahomes delivers 3-word verdict as Lamine Yamal scores wonder goal at Euro 2024

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is lost for words to describe Lamine Yamal's wonder strike in Spain's 2-1 UEFA Euro 2024 semi-final win over France on Tuesday (July 9) in Munich. The 16-year-old sparked La Roja's comeback in the 21st minute with a brilliant effort.

In a rousing start to the last-four clash at the Allianz Arena, Randal Kolo Muani headed in Kylian Mbappe's far-post cross to give Les Bleus a ninth-minute lead. However, Yamal provided a glimpse of his burgeoning prowess by curling home a delightful left-footed curler - in off the far post - to restore parity for Luis de la Fuente's side.

Four minutes later, Dani Olmo's deflected strike gave La Roja the lead, which was enough to put them into their first European Championship final in 12 years. NFL star Mahomes simply reacted to Lamine Yamal's strike - which made him the youngest scorer in Euros history - with the following three words on X:

"Goal was insane!"

In a subsequent tweet, the three-time Super Bowl winner said:

"I know I'm late to it! But watching Euros in Europe made me a lifetime fan of the tournament!!"

As Mahomes prepares for the 2024 NFL season, Lamine Yamal and Co. get ready to face England in the Euro 2024 final in Berlin on Sunday (July 14).

"We're disappointed" - William Saliba after France's defeat to Lamine Yamal's Spain at Euro 2024

France centre-back William Saliba is understandably disappointed to lose to Spain in the Euro 2024 semi-final earlier this week in Munich. The Frenchman bemoans the fact that his team conceded two 'easy' goals and couldn't respond.

Saliba was a key performer for a Les Bleus side that struggled to hit top gear at Euro 2024. The 23-year-old played every minute of all six games, including the quarter-final shootout win over Portugal.

However, Saliba and Co.'s run in Germany is over after their defeat to La Roja. Reflecting on the loss, the Arsenal defender told UEFA.com:

“We’re disappointed because we could have done better. We scored first but after that we gave them two goals. Honestly, they were better than us, and we have to accept that. It’s hard, but that’s how it is. We gave everything to get back into it. but it didn’t happen.”

If La Roja win a record fourth European Championship title this weekend, Lamine Yamal - a day after his 17th birthday - will become the youngest player to win the competition. He's already the Euros' youngest scorer and assist-provider.
