“No goals against Villa”, “Player of match is coming back with me” - Chelsea star Cole Palmer shares text sent to Aston Villa midfielder before win

Chelsea attacker Cole Palmer shared a text he shared with Aston Villa midfielder Morgan Rogers before the Blues' 3-0 win over Villa in the Premier League on Sunday (December 1).

Palmer and Co. dominated proceedings at home against the visiting Villans at the weekend. Nicolas Jackson opened the scoring inside seven minutes before Enzo Fernandez doubled the Blues' lead half an hour later.

Cole Palmer rounded off the scoring seven minutes from time. Having also collected an assist, the Englishman walked away with the Man of the Match. Palmer later shared a screenshot of a private message from his good friend Rogers that he wouldn't score against Villa.

Palmer had replied that he would take home the Man of the Match, and he did, as he shared an image of the same along with his conversation with Rogers on Instagram stories. Here's a screenshot of the same:

It's pertinent to note that Palmer and Rogers were teammates at Manchester City's academy before they went different ways.

The Euro 2024 runner-up is off to a fine start to the season for the Blues, registering eight goals and six assists in 15 games across competitions this season.

All the goal contributions have come in 13 outings in the Premier League, where Enzo Maresca's side are third, behind Arsenal on fewer away goals scored in their head-to-head. The two London sides are level on points (25), goals scored (26) and goal difference (12).

Maresca's side have also fared well in Europe, winning their openng four UEFA Europa Conference League games, scoring 18 goals and scoring thrice. Next up, though, they take on Southampton away in the Premier League on Wednesday (December 4).

Following a weekend visit to Tottenham Hotspur four days later, the Blues hit the road again when they travel to FC Astana in the Conference League on December 12.

Palmer and Co. are looking to become the first side to win the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League and the UEFA Europa Conference League. They remain on course to do following their sizzling start on the continent.
