“No way he actually had the audacity to post this” - Fans call Manchester United star Joshua Zirkzee ‘shameless’ for Instagram post after draw

Manchester United supporters have called striker Joshua Zirkee 'shameless' after the Dutchman posted a photograph on social media after their game against Chelsea ended on Sunday, November 3. Taking to Instagram, Zirkzee had shared a photograph of himself running with the ball past Chelsea's defenders.

United drew 1-1 with Chelsea in a crucial EPL fixture after Moises Caicedo pulled a goal back for the visitors at Old Trafford. It was barely four minutes after Bruno Fernandes had put them ahead. This draw brought them one spot up to the 13th position of the league table with 12 points inside their kitty.

The Red Devils' horror season continued as they have now won three, lost three and drawn four out of the 10 matches they have played. Chelsea seemed all at sea against the hosts in the first half on Sunday, but the latter's inability to convert more of the 11 shots they took came back to haunt them.

Zirkzee, who came off the bench in the 84th minute for fellow striker Rasmus Hojlund, was widely criticized by the club's supporters for his poor showing. He took just three touches in total, out of which only one came inside the opposition's box. Zirkzee also made just one accurate pass during his time on the pitch.

Quite naturally, then, the photograph of him apparently speeding through the Chelsea defense appeared insensitive to the United fans. Already reeling from a humiliating draw and painful campaign in general, this display of self-promotion seemed vulgar to them, and they were not afraid to say so.

Here are some of the reactions from Manchester United's supporters on X:

"Zirkzee on Instagram after 6 minutes vs Chelsea," wrote @BantersReport.
"Zirkzee on Instagram after a 6 minute stinker vs Chelsea. Manchester United are shameless. #FootballWithDME, "@dme_363 wrote.
"No way Zirkzee actually had the audacity to post this. What a shameless breed," wrote @UtdTata.
"See Zirkzee on IG. Star player," wrote L0Pez_01.

Ruben Amorim has been appointed the new Manchester United head coach

After sacking Erik ten Hag last Monday, October 28, Manchester United have now appointed current Sporting CP manager Ruben Amorim as their new head coach. The Red Devils will avail of his services from November 11.

Although the season has not gone according to plan for them, the Red Devils will hope that things will turn around under Amorim. The latter's first assignment will be an away trip to Ipswich Town on November 24.
