“Nobody knows what he will be able to achieve in football” - Chelsea star makes feelings clear about Cole Palmer
Chelsea star Enzo Fernandez has heaped praise on teammate Cole Palmer, highlighting how hard the attacking midfielder works off the pitch. Palmer has been the Blues' best player and one of the best in the Premier League since his reported £42.5 million switch from Manchester City.
Palmer has lived up to every penny Chelsea spent on him in the summer of 2023 consistently producing goals and assists. The playmaker has amassed an amazing 36 goals and 21 assists in 63 appearances for the Blues thus far.
Enzo Fernandez, who is also enjoying a solid season this time out, has waxed lyrical about his teammate Palmer. The Argentina international told Sky Sports, as quoted by The Chelsea Chronicle:
“Cole has shown he is a very good player but he also works hard every day to be where he is. Nobody knows what he will be able to achieve in football but I believe in him and I trust that he will achieve anything he puts his mind to because he has incredible quality.”
Chelsea's heavy spending over the last few years under Todd Boehly is finally bearing fruit this season. The Blues find themselves second in the table just two points behind Premier League leaders Liverpool, who have a game in hand.
Palmer has been used as a number ten by Enzo Maresca this season where he has been the Blues' prime creator. He has found the back of the net 11 times while providing six assists in 18 appearances this season.
Chelsea eye three players as Enzo Maresca eyes defensive reinforcements: Reports
Chelsea have reportedly identified three central defenders as Enzo Maresca looks to bolster his defensive options. As claimed by TEAMtalk correspondent Fraser Fletcher, they have set their sights on Marc Guehi, Tomas Araujo, and Illia Zabarnyi.
Enzo Maresca has done incredibly well since taking over at Stamford Bridge in the summer. The west London giants finished 12th and then sixth in the last two seasons but find themselves second in the table this time out.
The Blues have scored the most goals in the Premier League this season (37) but have also conceded 19 times. Liverpool and Arsenal, in comparison, have conceded just 13 and 15 goals, respectively.
Fraser Fletcher has claimed that Maresca is looking to strengthen at the back in order to shore up his backline. Benfica's Tomas Araujo is reportedly their priority target while Crystal Palace's Guehi and Bournemouth's Zabarnyi are also being considered.
