Oliver Kahn slams Bayern Munich legend's recent comments regarding his stint as CEO with the Bundesliga club

Oliver Kahn has hit back at Lothar Matthaus' comments about the legendary goalkeeper's stint as Bayern Munich's CEO. Matthaus and Kahn have often had back-and-forth exchanges.

Kahn was dismissed from his post as the Bayern CEO in May 2023. The 2002 FIFA World Cup finalist recently addressed a claim from Matthaus, who said that Kahn didn't make wise use of the money during his stay as the CEO of the Bavarians.

Kahn has now clapped back through a lengthy social media post. The Bayern Munich and Germany legend wrote:

"During my time as a board of directors, I have always taken great care of the financial aspects of the club, together with my board colleagues and the supervisory board."

Kahn further pointed out Bayern's treble-winning season during the pandemic. He also specified that the salaries of the Bayern players were significantly lower than that of other top Champions League clubs.

He went on to take a jibe at Matthaus, writing:

"The "external expert" Lothar Matthaus obviously does not have access to the relevant facts in order to make a competent and sound analysis."

He then wished everyone exciting times for the ongoing Euro 2024 tournament in Germany.

Oliver Kahn backs Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer to show his level at Euro 2024

Oliver Kahn has backed Manuel Neuer to perform well at Euro 2024. The Bayern Munich goalkeeper remains Julian Nagelsmann's first choice despite suggestions that Marc-Andre ter Stegen was in better form.

Kahn has opined that while others may have better numbers at the moment, Neuer's impact is way more important. He said (via Mia San Mia):

"There are definitely goalkeepers who have better numbers that Manuel at the moment. The second level is the psychological factor- the effect that Manuel has on his opponents and the effect he has in his own team."

Neuer has started Euro 2024 really well, showcasing his quality in the group-stage games against Scotland and Hungary, with Germany winning both.
