“One played a game inferior to the other” - Fede Valverde says Real Madrid went ‘crazy’ in 4-0 El Clasico loss to Barcelona

Real Madrid midfielder Federico Valverde has opened up about Los Blancos' 4-0 El Clasico loss at the hands of Barcelona. The La Liga clash, held on October 26, saw the Madridistas stunned into silence at the Santiago Bernabeu, as they watched their team struggle.

After a goalless first half, the Blaugrana entered the second half with ruthless attacking instinct through Robert Lewandowski, Lamine Yamal, and Raphinha. Lewandowski scored the first goal in the 54th minute and added another just two minutes later (56'). Yamal got the third in the 77th minute while Raphinha completed the rout in the 84th minute.

The Real Madrid attack had no response to the demolition, and the game ended with the hosts failing to get on the scoresheet. Federico Valverde recently reminisced about the struggles they faced on the day, telling Movistar+ (via Barca Blaugranes):

“It hurts a lot and obviously it makes you very helpless not to have gotten the three points on our field. You also have to recognize when one played a game inferior to the other and I think Barcelona played a very good game."
"I think it’s not all bad for Madrid, I think Barcelona did things well. Especially in the second half. The first half was very even. They had chances and so did we. In the second half they scored a goal and everything changed, the energy changed, at least in our team," he added.

The Uruguayan midfielder continued:

"Then they put the second one on us and that’s it, obviously, it goes beyond what is tactical. You forget a little, you go a little crazy. They play very well, they knew how to handle when they were ahead and that’s it, I think they played a very good game at the Bernabeu.”

Barcelona went home winners on the day, expanding the gap at the top of the La Liga table. They now sit six points ahead of Real Madrid, who are second with 27 points.

Barcelona Femeni repeat El Clasico feat, beating Real Madrid Femenino 4-0

Just like their male counterparts did in October, Barcelona Femeni beat Real Madrid Femenino 4-0 at the Estadio Alfredo di Stefano on Saturday (November 16). This came as little surprise, with the Blaugrana dominating women's football in Spain.

Barca's Femeni side had already enjoyed 14 consecutive wins against Madrid, and Saturday's trip made it number 15. Patricia Guijarro opened the scoring with just four minutes on the clock and followed it up with another goal in the 22nd minute.

Claudia Pina scored the third in the 39th minute, and to seal the deal, two-time Ballon d'Or winner Alexia Putellas scored the fourth in the 86th minute. Real Madrid Femenino could not find answers to the onslaught, as they lost in front of their fans.
