“One, two, three, four” - Former Barcelona star mocks Real Madrid following 4-0 El Classico thrashing
Former Barcelona midfielder Arturo Vidal has mocked Real Madrid on social media following the 4-0 El Clasico defeat. Los Blancos succumbed to a home defeat against their archrivals on Saturday, October 26 in LaLiga.
The reigning champions arrived at the game in fine form, having despatched Borussia Dortmund 5-2 in the Champions League last week. With Ballon d'Or frontrunner Vinicius Junior in their roster and Kylian Mbappe raring to go, Real Madrid were expected to give a tough fight to the high-flying Barcelona.
However, the Catalans dominated their archrivals in their backyard, with Carlo Ancelotti failing to respond to Hansi Flick's tactics. Robert Lewandowski opened the scoring in the 54th minute, before doubling the score two minutes later.
Lamine Yamal made it 3-0 in the 77th minute following some fine work by Raphinha. The Brazilian then got on the scoresheet seven minutes later to round up a fantastic night for Flick's team.
Following the result, Vidal shared a message on social media celebrating his former team's win, stating:
"1, 2, 3 and 4..."
The result helped Barcelona stay at the top of the LaLiga table, and they are now six points ahead of Real Madrid. Hansi Flick's team have won 12 of their 14 games across competitions this season.
What's next for Real Madrid and Barcelona?
Real Madrid will be hoping to quickly regroup before their trip to the Mestalla on Saturday, November 2, in LaLiga. Los Blancos haven't been at their best this season, despite securing the services of long-term target Kylian Mbappe.
The injuries to David Alaba and Dani Carvajal haven't helped and the reigning champions have looked vulnerable at the back in recent games. The Austrian is yet to recover from an ACL injury picked up last year.
Carvajal, meanwhile, is sidelined for the rest of the campaign after rupturing his ACL earlier this month. Real Madrid are currently second in the league, with seven wins and one defeat from 11 games.
Barcelona, meanwhile, are flying high under Hansi Flick. The German manager took over from Xavi this summer and has already worked his magic at Camp Nou. He has managed to get the best out of the squad, with players now performing at the top of their capabilities.
The Catalans have had injury issues of their own too, but they have coped with them well. They next face Espanyol on Sunday, November 3, at home in LaLiga.
