“Our form will improve” - Real Madrid star Luka Modric calls for calm amid Los Blancos’ stuttering start to the season
Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric has claimed that the club's form will improve as the season progresses. He has asked for fans to remain calm, assuring them that the club will be fighting for trophies this campaign as well.
Los Blancos have encountered a difficult start to the season. Although they are unbeaten in LaLiga this season, they have registered just six wins in nine matches so far as they find themselves three points behind Barcelona.
The Champions League winners started their defence of the European trophy with a home win against Stuttgart but succumbed to a loss at Lille in the next gameweek.
Luka Modric is currently with Croatia as they face Scotland and Poland in the UEFA Nations League this week. Ahead of the match with Poland tonight, October 12, the 39-year-old midfielder was asked about the club's stuttering start to the season.
"Real Madrid's start of the season? I'm satisfied, everything is going well, but the season is not easy for us," Modric replied.
He believes that Real Madrid will be in the hunt for all trophies at the end of the season.
"We are playing a lot, but we are here, in the fight for all the trophies, and I believe that as the season progresses, our form will improve," Modric claimed (via Madrid Xtra on X).
Modric made his international debut back in March 2006 when he played in Croatia's 3-2 win over Argentina. Since then, he has made 180 appearances for his nation, scoring 27 goals.
Former Spurs midfielder picks Real Madrid's Luka Modric over Bale and Kane
Luka Modric's former teammate at Tottenham Hotspur Jake Livermore has given the Real Madrid midfielder a glowing tribute, calling him the best player he has played with. The Englishman played with Modric 26 times during his time with Spurs and admitted that the Croatian was the 'pick of the bunch' for him.
Speaking on talkSPORT, Livermore said:
"I think being a midfielder myself, Luka Modric is probably the pick of the bunch for me."
Livermore also spoke highly of Gareth Bale, another player who swapped Spurs for Madrid but admitted that Modric pips him as his best teammate.
"Gareth [Bale] was immense for a couple of seasons, two in particular. Everything he hit just turned to gold," Livermore recalled.
"But I think being a midfielder myself and playing alongside him and trying to learn from him, I think Modric is probably the pick of the bunch for me," he added.
Real Madrid captain Luka Modric remains a key part of Carlo Ancelotti's side. He has started five games in the league for the Merengues this season, providing one assist in the process.
