Paraguay set to ban rival team shirts in stadium ahead of World Cup qualifier against Lionel Messi led Argentina

The Paraguay FA has banned rival team shirts in their stadium ahead of their national team's clash against Lionel Messi-led Argentina in the upcoming international break. The announcement is not new in the South American nation, as a similar measure was in place when they hosted Brazil in September.

Speaking with EFE (via GOAL), the Paraguay FA's Licensing Manager, Fernando Villasboa said:

"We have already warned that in the local sectors, we will not allow access to jerseys that are not from Paraguay, or perhaps neutral ones, but not from the rival. Jerseys from clubs that contain the names of rival team players will be allowed. This is not an issue against any player; we have great respect for the careers of all footballers. It's just that home advantage is essential for us."

Lionel Messi and his Copa America-winning compatriots will face Paraguay on November 14 and will be keen to secure all three points in the clash. The reigning World Champions currently sit at the top of the CONMEBOL World Cup Qualifying group, while their hosts sit in sixth place.

"I didn't set any date or deadline about my future, I'm just enjoying all this" - Lionel Messi on his Argentina career

As Lionel Messi approaches the end of his career, the 37-year-old is frequently asked about his plans regarding retirement from the national team. The Argentine legend has enjoyed incredible success with La Albiceleste in the last few years.

Speaking about his international future after his hat-trick in his nation's win over Bolivia, Messi told SI:

"I didn't set any date or deadline about my future, I'm just enjoying all this. I am more emotional than ever and taking all the love from the people because I know these can be my last games. It is very nice to play here feeling the affection of the Argentina fans. It makes me emotional to listen how they shout my name. We all enjoy this connection with the fans and we love playing at home,"
"It's a joy to be present and appreciate this moment, Being surrounded by younger teammates, given my age, makes me feel like a kid again. I find myself doing silly things because I feel so comfortable. As long as I maintain that feeling and can continue contributing to the team, I plan to be here enjoying [the Argentina national team]."

Lionel Messi has played 189 games for his country since he made his debut on August 17, 2005, under Jose Nestor Pekerman. He has since scored 112 goals and led his nation to two Copa America titles and a World Cup.
