Julian Nagelsmann's squad opened the scoring via Jamal Musiala from an assist by İlkay Gündoğan in the 22nd minute. The German captain netted the second goal with an assist by defender Maximilian Mittelstädt in the 67th minute.

German Federation announced extending Julian Nagelsmann’s contract as the national team's head coach, which is now valid until World Cup 2026. The news comes after the host nation's win against Hungary in Euro 2024. There was a specific clause in the agreement to extend following their access to the tournament's knockout stage.

The 36-year-old manager took charge of the nation in 2023 following his two-season tenure with Bundesliga side Bayern Munich which began in 2021.

Germany has won the UEFA European Championship thrice in 1972, 1980, and 1996. They were the runners-up in 2008 and ended up in third place in 2016.
