Patrice Evra reacts hilariously to news of Cristiano Ronaldo potentially facing 99 lashes for adultery in Iran

Manchester United icon Patrice Evra reacted hilariously on Instagram after learning that Cristiano Ronaldo could potentially face punishment of 99 lashes in Iran for committing adultery.

Ronaldo recently visited Iran for Al-Nassr's AFC Champions League clash against Persepolis on September 19 in which the Saudi outfit won 2-0. The Portugal superstar received a hero's welcome from the Iranian fans, being serenaded with various gifts.

The 38-year-old was gifted paintings of himself by Iranian artist Fatima Hamimi. Ronaldo allegedly hugged her and kissed her on the cheek to thank her for her kindness.

However, as per Mundo Deportivo, this has landed the Al-Nassr superstar in trouble. This is because touching another woman while being in a relationship is considered a form of adultery in Iranian law.

Iranian TV station Sharq Emroz has announced that Cristiano Ronaldo will be sentenced to 99 lashes the next time he enters the country.

Instagram page Pubity shared a post depicting the news. Patrice Evra found the situation rather amusing as he commented:

"SIUUUUUUUU"

According to MARCA, Ronaldo could be exempted from his sentence if he shows 'remorse' for his actions.

When Patrice Evra explained why he would always pick Cristiano Ronaldo over Lionel Messi in the GOAT debate

Patrice Evra pinpointed Cristiano Ronaldo's superior work ethic as the main factor for him picking the Portugal ace over Lionel Messi in the GOAT debate. He explained this earlier this year.

Both superstars have dominated world football for well over a decade, breaking numerous records along the way. Each of them has a great claim to being named the GOAT, with Ronaldo winning five Ballons d'Or and Messi seven.

Patrice Evra explained himself, saying (via Daily Mirror):

"I want to explain why I say Ronaldo every time. It's not because he's our brother, it's because I'm in love with work ethic. I feel like Messi, god just gave him a talent and said 'go to play with those skills'.
"And Cristiano had to work for it. Even if he had the talent, he had to work for it. If Messi had the same work ethic as Ronaldo, Messi would probably have like 15 Ballons d'Or today. But Ronaldo, I'm just in love with people working hard, so that's why I pick Cristiano."

He added:

"I know after the World Cup, they say the GOAT is Messi or whatever, but Ronaldo is a different level. They've both like, I don't want to compare them, like if someone picked Messi, I would agree with them.
"We have a different preference, we have a different opinion. We just have to be blessed and grateful. We play with those players and we see those players. They're still playing, that's it. There's no wrong answer."

Cristiano Ronaldo's dedication to ensuring he's in the best possible shape on the pitch is the reason why he's still going strong at the age of 38 for Al-Nassr and the Portugal national team. The Real Madrid legend has scored 11 goals and provided six assists in 11 appearances this season for the Saudi outfit to date.
