Paul Pogba drops comment on Jadon Sancho after winger records second assist for Chelsea since leaving Manchester United
Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba has dropped a comment on Jadon Sancho after the winger recorded his second assist for Chelsea. Sancho notably left Old Trafford for Stamford Bridge on the deadline day of the summer transfer window, and he has shown his quality on the pitch for the Blues.
The 24-year-old has played just two games for the Blues, partaking in their 1-0 win over Bournemouth, where he provided the assist for the goal that won the game. He was also instrumental in their 3-0 win over West Ham on September 21, securing his second assist in only two appearances.
This is certainly a strong return to form for the English winger, who notably clashed with Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag last season. He was banished from the first team and eventually sent on loan to his former club Borussia Dortmund, where he helped them reach the Champions League final.
Sancho returned to Old Trafford in the summer and seemed to mend things with Ten Hag, as he participated in first-team friendlies during pre-season. However, after a seven-minute cameo in their Community Shield loss to Manchester City on August 10, Jadon Sancho did not play for Manchester United again.
It became clear that he would need to leave the club for playing time, which resulted in a move to Chelsea, and that decision has borne fruit so far. His former teammate Paul Pogba was impressed with Sancho's performance against West Ham, as the ex-United midfielder commented "Him" on the winger's Instagram post.
Sancho will hope he can continue to exceed expectations at Stamford Bridge, while looking to potentially return to the national team setup.
Manchester United drop points as Chelsea secure strong win on Premier League Gameweek 5
It was a match to forget for Manchester United, as they drew 0-0 with Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on September 21. They went into the game with every intention of improving their current goal difference of zero, but failed to do so, as they were not clinical enough in the final third.
Now, the Red Devils remain in mid-table, sitting in 11th place with seven points and just below Tottenham Hotspur, who are in 10th due to a better goal difference. The case is a lot different for Chelsea, who racked up another three points with their 3-0 win over West Ham.
Chelsea now sit in 4th place on the Premier League table with 10 points. However, they could potentially drop to 6th after the gameweek is concluded today (September 22). Arsenal, Brighton and Nottingham Forest all sit below the Blues with a game in hand.
