“Probably just for pure emotion” - Chelsea ace Cole Palmer picks his favourite goal since joining Blues
Chelsea ace Cole Palmer has chosen his favorite goal for the west London club since joining them just under a year ago. The Manchester City academy graduate was phenomenal in his debut campaign for the Blues, bagging 33 goal involvements in the Premier League.
Speaking with the Daily Mirror about which of his strikes was his favorite, the prolific forward found it hard but ultimately picked his goal against Manchester United, saying:
“I like the United one probably just for pure emotion. The Everton one at home, the one at Old Trafford. I’ve had a few that I like.”
The former Manchester City star has every right to be proud of his strike against the Red Devils at Old Trafford, with his performance that evening snatching victory from the jaws of defeat. While a neutral could argue that his strike against Everton was more impressive, the emotion and timing of his goal against United make it the clear winner.
Palmer looks set to be reunited with another familiar face from Manchester this summer, with Enzo Maresca set to be announced as Chelsea boss. The Italian worked alongside the Englishman as Pep Guardiola's assistant.
Manchester City star Kyle Walker hails Chelsea captain as 'complete defender'
Manchester City full-back Kyle Walker has hailed Chelsea captain Reece James as a complete defender. The Yorkshire-born defender has himself been touted as one of the best players to play his position and has lifted the Premier League four times in a row.
On his You'll Never Beat Kyle Walker podcast, Walker said:
“Reece James. He’s just got everything. Everything. If I can make the complete right-back, it would be him. Defend, attack, technically, both-footed, dead-ball situations, quick. I think if I was to build one, I’d go with my strength, Hakimi’s pace, Cancelo’s technical ability, Trent’s passing, Carvajal’s mentality and I think Reece James’ football brain because he obviously played in midfield for a long time.
The England international concluded:
“But if I was to round all of them up, I’d say it would be Reece. He gives you a little bit of everything.”
Reece James has been plagued by injuries in recent seasons but will hope he can participate in the upcoming Euro 2024 with his country. Walker has been named in England's provisional squad after another fine campaign with Manchester City and will hope the Chelsea captain is in the team that travels to Germany.
