PSG provide 4-word response after being ordered to pay Kylian Mbappe's wages in LFP hearing - Reports
Paris Saint-Germain have been ordered by French football governing body LFP (Ligue de Football Professionnel) to pay Kylian Mbappe €55 million in unpaid wages and bonuses. Kylian Mbappe opened legal proceedings against PSG, claiming that he was owed €55 million for April, May, and June 2024, which included his salary and an "ethical bonus.''
Before the LFP gave their verdict on the issue, the French club had tried to resolve the issue via mediation, but the Real Madrid man rejected the proposal. The country’s football governing body ordered PSG to pay Mbappe what they owe him, according to RMC Sport.
PSG, however, don't want to pay the French forward and have sent a four-word message to Mbappe, as per GOAL:
''We are not paying.’’
The French club told the AP (via ESPN):
"In light of the limitations of the commission's legal scope to take a complete decision on this matter, the matter must now be contested in another legal forum, to which Paris Saint-Germain is delighted to present all the facts over the coming months and year."
"As a matter of law and fact, the player has made clear, repeated public and private commitments that must be respected, having been afforded unprecedented benefits by the club over seven years in Paris. And the club looks forward to these being upheld in the proper forum, if the player seeks to pursue this incomprehensibly reputationally damaging matter further, in due course."
The matter between Mbappe and PSG is now expected to be taken up in another court.
Kylian Mbappe left PSG for Real Madrid this summer on a free transfer. He left the French capital after etching his name into the club’s history books as their all-time top scorer (256).
How Kylian Mbappe fared at PSG
Kylian Mbappe's tenure at Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) was nothing short of transformative, marking a period of both individual brilliance and significant contributions to the club's fortunes. He joined the French giants in 2017 from Monaco, initially on loan and then permanently in 2018.
Mbappe’s arrival at PSG was heralded as a major coup for the club, which was already in the midst of an ambitious project following the substantial investment by Qatar Sports Investments.
Kylian Mbappe, then just 18, brought with him a burst of energy and skill that immediately elevated the team’s attacking prowess. He played a pivotal role in the club’s domestic success, helping them secure the Ligue 1 title, the Coupe de France, and the Coupe de la Ligue.
The Frenchman's lightning-fast pace, technical ability, and clinical finishing made him one of the best goal-scorers in the league. Each season, he was among the top scorers in Ligue 1, showcasing his knack for finding the back of the net with impressive regularity.
However, Kylian Mbappe's time at PSG was not without its controversies and challenges. The club's repeated failures to secure the Champions League trophy led to mounting pressure and scrutiny.
