PSG superstar copies Chelsea ace Cole Palmer’s iconic celebration after scoring in big Ligue 1 win over Monaco

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) superstar Ousmane Dembele copied Chelsea midfielder Cole Palmer's celebration in his team's 4-2 win over Monaco. This Ligue 1 fixture on Wednesday (December 18) saw the visiting Parisians take the lead (24'), after which Monaco managed to equalize (53').

The home side went ahead just seven minutes after leveling the game but couldn't hold on to their lead for long. It was Dembele who brought the game back to parity in the 64th minute before Goncalo Ramos put PSG back ahead in the 83rd.

The France international made sure of the points seven minutes into stoppage time by dinking the opposition keeper in a one-on-one situation. Putting his side 4-2 up, Dembele pulled out Palmer's iconic celebration, where he rubs his opposite shoulder with his hands.

The celebration has indeed become synonymous with Palmer, who performs it nearly every time he scores. When asked about where he got the action from, the Blues man revealed he picked it up from former England and Manchester City youth teammate Morgan Rogers.

When asked about it, he said (via the Premier League's official website):

“My boy Morgz [Rogers] did one for Middlesbrough, so I told him I’d do it too if I scored."

The celebration seems to have become popular in leagues around the world, with Dembele performing it now. The former Barcelona man is a vital component of PSG's team, having contributed eight goals and seven assists in 19 matches across competitions.

Once Chelsea midfielder Cole Palmer's celebration took off, the origins of it were seriously contended. Aston Villa star Mogan Rogers, while said to have done the action first, was happy to let the Blues man use it.

However, Rogers was quick to mention that it was he who performed the celebration before Palmer. Speaking after a match against Chelsea last season, he said (via the Premier League's official website):

“Yeah, he definitely copied me! It’s my celebration. Check the timeline, I did it first."

Conceding ownership, he later told TNT Sports:

“I'll let him have it. He's scored 40 goals or something stupid. Can't really argue with that, can I?”

Many would argue that Palmer is currently the best player at Stamford Bridge after his recent performances. This season alone, the England international has notched up 11 goals and six assists in 11 Premier League appearances.
