"Quality is in the eyes of everyone" - Manchester United skipper Bruno Fernandes hails manager linked with move to Manchester City

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has heaped praise on Ruben Amorim amid Manchester City's links with the Portuguese manager. He believes that the Sporting CP manager has turned things around for his club.

Speaking to the media, as quoted by Tribal Football, Fernandes said that Amorim has been consistent and his signings have also been spot on. He's unsure if the manager can repeat the same success in England or outside Portugal but added that Amorim's quality is undeniable.

"Sporting is nothing new, since Amorim arrived it has been the best team with the best football, very consistent and with correct signings," Fernandes said.
"They have just been champions and start this year already in front, they are very well prepared and about Amorim I have spoken many times. He is a coach who shows that he is prepared, because winning championships at Sporting is not easy, for 20 years they had not won and they have already won two. Whether he can do the same in England or elsewhere will not be known until he gets there, but quality is in the eyes of everyone."

Pep Guardiola is in the final year of his contract at City, and reports suggest that the manager could be on his way out. Meanwhile, Sporting football chief Hugo Viana is replacing Txiki Begiristain at Etihad, which has sparked rumours of Amorim following him.

Erik ten Hag told he needs to remove Bruno Fernandes as Manchester United captain

Alan Pardew has urged Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag to remove the armband from Bruno Fernandes. He reckons the Portuguese star is not capable of controlling his emotions, saying on talkSPORT:

"You've got your skipper out there. You've got a technical skipper, when you've got a technician as a skipper, I think it's always dangerous because they're going to have off games. Even (Christian) Eriksen in his prime, (Michel) Platini in his prime, they'd have the off day. They were technical players.
"(Against Liverpool), it was never Fernandes because (United) never had the ball enough. Defensively, he's not been called upon. How can he lead the team? It's a very difficult one for him. I actually think it would be better for him as a footballer to take it off him," he added.

Fernandes replaced Harry Maguire as the Manchester United captain in 2023 after manager Erik ten Hag removed the Englishman from his starting XI.
