Raphinha reacts hilariously to picture of fan who bought Barcelona shirt with Nico Williams’ name on the back
Barcelona winger Raphinha has hilariously reacted to a picture of a fan who got Nico Williams' name printed on the back of his Blaugrana shirt. Williams has continually been linked with a move to Camp Nou throughout the summer transfer window.
However, the Spaniard's return to Athletic Bilbao's training ahead of the new season has dampened the hopes of some Barcelona fans concerning the move. But some supporters are still hopeful, such as the one who got the 22-year-old's name printed on his jersey.
Raphinha seems to think a move for the Athletic Bilbao star is unlikely, replying with multiple laughing emojis.
The Brazilian winger could be someone who would be affected by the arrival of Williams. Raphinha has already lost out on a starting role on the right wing, with Lamine Yamal the undoubted first choice.
With the arrival of Dani Olmo from RB Leipzig, Raphinha will have to be on top of his game, given that the former can play on the left flank. He will also have to fight off competition from Ferran Torres and others.
Therefore, Williams coming to Barcelona would certainly be a huge issue for Raphinha after the former's good performances last season and at Euro 2024. In the 2023-24 season, the Spanish forward scored eight goals and bagged 19 assists in 37 appearances across competitions.
Meanwhile, he netted twice, including one in the final against England, and bagged an assist for La Roja as they clinched the European Championship trophy in Germany this summer.
Hansi Flick looking to reunite with Ivan Perisic at Barcelona this summer - Reports
Barcelona have reportedly started to look at alternatives to Nico Williams for the left-wing role at their club. A report from SPORT now claims that head coach Hansi Flick has contacted former Tottenham Hotspur winger Ivan Perisic over a move this summer (via Barca Universal).
The Croatia international is an experienced campaigner and a free agent after parting ways with Hajduk Split. However, he is 35 years old and seemingly past his prime, making him an unlikely starter even if he does join Barcelona.
That is why it is key that Flick and company look at other alternatives. It is also believed that the Blaugrana are looking to sign Bayern Munich winger Kingsley Coman. The Frenchman has also been linked with Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain.
