RB Leipzig want to replace Barcelona target Dani Olmo with Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal teammate: Reports
RB Leipzig have reportedly set sights on signing Cristiano Ronaldo's national teammate Francisco Conceicao as the replacement for Barcelona target Dani Olmo. The Bundesliga side reportedly need €30 million to sign the Portuguese star and are waiting for Barca to make an improved offer for the Spaniard.
As per a report in Mundo Deportivo, Conceicao is the player RB Leipzig see as the ideal replacement for Olmo. They have a deal in place for the winger, but will not move for the Portuguese star unless Barcelona target Olmo leaves.
Conceicao moved back to FC Porto permanently this summer after a clause in his loan deal was activated. The Portuguese star had joined them on loan for the 2023/24 season with a €10 million mandatory buy clause if the winger played 45 minutes in 25 matches of the season. He finished his season with eight goals and as many assists and helped them win the Taca de Portugal.
However, his impressive performances at the EURO 2024 have caught the eye of several clubs.
Cristiano Ronaldo's teammate, Francisco Conceicao's future depends on Barcelona
Roberto Martinez was full of praise for Francisco Conceicao after the winger impressed at EURO 2024. The manager praised the youngster's performances off the bench.
He said (via GOAL):
"Francisco is an example of what it means to deserve to be in the team and be prepared to help the group as well. He has incredible maturity, he has a scent for danger inside the area and he showed it. For a coach, seeing him come off the bench and show what he showed is very important."
However, his future now depends on Barcelona as RB Leipzig need to move Dani Olmo out before signing him. The Spaniard has already stated that he was open to leaving.
He said (via Manchester City News):
"We'll see. Yesterday we celebrated all day and now I'm at the campus. The people who deal with that (transfer market) already know what I want to do. I don't know if I'll stay in Germany, we'll see. I want to be somewhere where I'm valued and loved and what I want to do is win. There are several options, we'll see what happens. The truth is that between the Euro cup, the celebration and the campus I have seen little of that. What I want is an ambitious project and I want to win titles."
While the future of Francisco Conceicao and Dani Olmo are in the balance, Cristiano Ronaldo has his plan straight. He is planning to stay at Al Nassr and is open to signing a new deal.
