Real Madrid goalkeeper Andriy Lunin’s wife takes a playful dig as her husband goes to training on his day off

Real Madrid goalkeeper Andriy Lunin was the subject of his wife's post on social media, where she teased him. Anastasia Nastasica mocked her husband for going to training on his day off.

Lunin is in Madrid while most of his Los Blancos teammates are on international duty. The 25-year-old Ukranian decided to put his off days to good use by carrying out individual work at the club's training ground alongside Thibaut Courtois.

Lunin posted a picture on his Instagram account as a story from the dressing room, sharing the work he's putting in. His wife, however, made a joke out of it by quoting the image with her own story which read:

"Only my husband can go to training when it's his day off. 😂"

Thibaut Courtois and Andriy Lunin trained under goalkeeping coach Lluis Llopis. The Belgian is on an individual training program to help him recover from the injury he suffered against Atletico Madrid. Lunin is also training individually after recovering from gastroenteritis.

"I enjoy every day here" - Andriy Lunin after signing Real Madrid contract extension

Andriy Lunin's future at the start of the season was a topic of debate with the Ukrainian exploring options as his contract with Real Madrid was running down. In September, however, the 25-year-old signed a long-term contract extension keeping him at the club until 2030.

Lunin joined Real Madrid as a 19-year-old in 2018 and was promoted to the first-team squad two years later. While he has mostly been a backup goalkeeper for Los Blancos, Lunin has won 10 trophies, including two Champions Leagues and as many LaLiga titles.

Upon signing the extension, Lunin spoke about feeling at home with the club. He told Real Madrid TV:

"I'm very happy to be at the best club in the world for a few more years. From day one, the club made me feel at home. I feel very comfortable, and happy to be in the best place for my professional and personal development."

An injury to Thibaut Courtois, which sidelined him for most of last season, saw Lunin don the gloves for the club regularly. His performances impressed manager Carlo Ancelotti, who preferred him over loan signing Kepa Arrizabalaga in LaLiga and the Champions League.

"I always try to improve in every way and to keep working hard but I still have a long way to go. The 2023/24 season was the one in which I played the most games and won three titles. It was unforgettable, important and a reward for the work done. I enjoy every day here," Lunin said.

In the 2023-24 season, Lunin made 21 appearances in the league and eight in the Champions League, helping Real Madrid win both competitions. However, he didn't feature in the Champions League final as Los Blancos beat Borussia Dortmund 2-0, with Courtois guarding the goal.
