Real Madrid legend Marcelo describes Vinicius Jr with one-word comment after hat-trick in 4-0 win against Osasuna
Real Madrid legend Marcelo left a comment on Vinicius Jr.'s Instagram post after the Brazilian winger bagged a hat-trick in their 4-0 win against Osasuna. The two sides faced off in LaLiga at the Santiago Bernabeu on Saturday, November 9.
Vinicius was his side's best performer in the clash. The 24-year-old opened the scoring in the 34th off a Jude Bellingham assist. The England midfielder then doubled Real Madrid’s lead shortly after (42’), scoring his first goal of the season.
In the 61st minute, Vinicius scored his second of the day, assisted by goalkeeper Andriy Lunin. He then completed his hat-trick eight minutes later to complete a resounding victory for Los Blancos.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side, however, suffered some casualties in the game. Eder Militao, Rodrygo Goes, and Lucas Vasquez all picked up injuries during the clash and had to be substituted.
After the game, Vinicius took to Instagram to celebrate his hat-trick and the team's win. He posted a couple of pictures from the game with the caption:
“Amo este equipo!! Seguiremos por mas!!!”
Which in English translates to:
“I love this team!! We'll follow for more!!!”
Several fans and his fellow teammates reacted to the post including Marcelo. The former Real Madrid defender commented:
“Animal [with a salute emoji.]"
His comments suggest that the Brazilian winger is ruthless on the pitch, especially in the attacking third after bagging a hat-trick.
Vini Jr and Marcelo shared the pitch 61 times together for Real Madrid but recorded no joint goal participation. They won two league titles and one UEFA Champions League trophy together at the club.
The latter however left Los Blancos in 2022 after 15 years at the club. He is currently a free agent after his contract was recently terminated by Fluminense.
How many goals have Vinicius Jr. scored for Real Madrid this season?
Vinicius Jr. is Real Madrid’s leading goalscorer this term. The Brazilian superstar has scored 12 goals and provided seven assists in 17 games across competitions so far. His hat-trick against Osasuna was his second for the season. He had also scored in Madrid's 5-2 comeback win over Borussia Dortmund at home in the UEFA Champions League.
The 24-year-old seemed to struggle after missing out on the 2024 Ballon d’Or to Rodri. He did not make a notable impact in his team's losses to Barcelona (4-0) and AC Milan (3-1).
However, Vinicius’ recent performance indicates that he has moved past the disappointment of the Ballon d’Or. He appears prepared to lead his club to more victories. The winger will now be in action for Brazil during their 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers against Venezuela (November 14) and Uruguay (November 19).
