Real Madrid legend Sergio Ramos keen on MLS move despite recent links to Saudi club - Reports
Real Madrid legend Sergio Ramos is reportedly looking to make a switch to the MLS despite multiple outlets linking him with a move to Saudi Arabia. The Spanish defender has been without a club since leaving La Liga outfit Sevilla at the end of the 2023-24 season.
Ramos was linked with a move to Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Orobah following their promotion to the Saudi top-flight. They finished second behind Al-Qadsiah in the First Division and are reportedly looking to recruit quality players to help them navigate the top-flight.
Having failed to land Sergio Ramos before the end of the transfer window, they managed to sign French defender Kurt Zouma from West Ham United.
A report from Fichajes has claimed that Ramos is closing in on a move to MLS outfit San Diego FC, a new expansion team for the 2025 season. The 38-year-old defender will have to watch from the sidelines for a few months if he joins the MLS side, seeing as they would become operational in 2025.
Sergio Ramos has enjoyed a successful and trophy-laden career in football, winning the UEFA Champions League, FIFA World Cup, and European Championship. Ramos will be tempted by the opportunity to reinvent himself in North America after his stints with PSG and Sevilla.
Ex-Real Madrid man Ramos played only 28 times in La Liga for Sevilla in the 2023-24 campaign, scoring three goals as they struggled throughout the season.
Real Madrid defender joins worrying injury list
Real Madrid defender Eder Militao has become the latest addition to Real Madrid's ever-increasing injury list. The centre-back was on duty with the Brazil national team where he pulling out of training due to a thigh issue before their first game against Ecuador.
Militao missed a huge chunk of the 2023-24 season after rupturing his ACL and only returned to action in the final months of the campaign. He represented Brazil at the Copa America in the summer before returning to the Santiago Bernabeu, where he has played all four La Liga games this season.
The injury to Militao is another headache for manager Carlo Ancelotti following injuries to Aurelien Tchouameni, Ferland Mendy, and Dani Ceballos this week. The likes of David Alaba, Eduardo Camavinga, and Jude Bellingham are also out with various injuries.
German defender Antonio Rudiger and Jesus Vallejo will be the only fit senior centre-backs at the club until Militao returns to action.
