Real Madrid offered chance to sign club legend again after dropping points to Rayo Vallecano - Reports

Real Madrid have again been linked with a move for former captain Sergio Ramos on the back of their disappointing 3-3 draw against Rayo Vallecano, as per Fichajes.net. The reigning Spanish champions have previously been linked with the former Spain captain following their injury crisis in defense this season.

Los Blancos legend Ramos became an option for the side after injuries ruled Eder Militao and promising youngster Joan Martinez out for the whole season. In addition, David Alaba has been injured since the 2023-24 season, leaving Antonio Rudiger and Jesus Vallejo as their senior centre-back options.

The defensive frailties of Carlo Ancelotti's side were evident in their 3-3 draw against Rayo Vallecano on December 14, prompting talk of a move for Ramos once more. As per the report from Fichajes.net, Real Madrid are looking to choose between signing a promising centre-back now or signing a stop-gap until the summer.

Sergio Ramos will fit the bill for Los Blancos, having been at the club for 16 years between 2005 and 2021. The 38-year-old played 671 times for the club before leaving for Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) three years ago. He last featured for Sevilla in the 2023-24 season, making 28 league appearances for his boyhood club.

Real Madrid had Aurelien Tchouameni partner Rudiger at the back against Rayo Vallecano while promising centre-back Raul Asencio started on the bench. While Tchouameni is a very good midfielder, his lack of expertise at centre-back showed with his role in Rayo's third goal on the night. The Frenchman was caught flat-footed as Florian Lejeune swung in a cross and Isi Palazon stole in behind him to score.

Sergio Ramos has worked hard to remain fit despite being without a club. The club may turn to him to try and steady their rearguard ahead of making a signing in the position.

Federico Valverde took aim from 35 yards out and found the bottom corner in the 39th minute to pull one back before Jude Bellingham headed home an equalizer on the strike of half-time.

Real Madrid were in the ascendancy and Rodrygo found the net from outside the box in the 56th minute to give his side the lead. Rayo Vallecano continued pushing and found an equalizer through Palazon in the 64th minute.

Los Blancos remain one point behind rivals Barcelona, having played the same number of games.
