Real Madrid provide Kylian Mbappe injury update after his early substitution in UCL win against Atalanta
Real Madrid has provided an update on Kylian Mbappe's recent injury. The French star scored the opening goal in the Spanish giants' win over Atalanta in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday before being injured in the 36th minute.
Mbappe joined the legendary Madrid-based outfit this summer on a free transfer after his contract with Paris Saint-Germain expired. He has played 1797 minutes across 22 games for Los Blancos, scoring 12 goals and providing two assists.
Following his recent injury setback, the club released a statement on its website, saying:
"After the tests carried out today, our player Kylian Mbappé by the Real Madrid Medical Services has been diagnosed with an injury to the thigh of his left leg. Pending evaluation."
Los Blancos will next face Rayo Vallecano in LaLiga this weekend and will be keen to follow up their midweek win on the continent with one domestically. The Spanish giants are the current holders of their domestic League and the UEFA Champions League.
"With Mbappe at 100%, we could have done much better" - What Real Madrid's manager said about Kylian Mbappe's injury
Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti opened up about the injury French star Kylian Mbappe suffered in his side's 3-2 win over Atalanta in the UEFA Champions League. The World Cup winner had a good game before he was forced off due to injury in the first half.
Mbappe joined the club after spending seven years in the French capital with PSG, which saw him become the record goalscorer for the side. After the final whistle, Ancelotti gave an update about the striker, saying via 90 mins:
"Mbappe played well at the start and scored a great goal, The key was the mobility up front. Vinicius moved a lot to take the centre-back away from Kylian. We scored the third thanks to a change of position between Vinicius and [Jude] Bellingham. Mbappe couldn't give us more and Rodrygo came on for him, but he wasn't 100%. He gave everything he could. With Mbappe at 100%, we could have done much better."
Real Madrid and Kylian Mbappe are out of action in the UEFA Champions League until next year. They next face Austrian outfit RB Salzburg and will be keen to build on their victory in Bergamo as they hope to retain their European crown.
