Real Madrid star linked with January exit to La Liga club: Reports

LaLiga club Real Betis are expected to swoop in for Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos in the 2025 January transfer window and entice him to seek his future elsewhere.

It is well known that Ceballos' former club Betis came ever so close to signing him in the summer transfer window but the move was shut down by Los Blancos' manager Carlo Ancelotti. AS Monaco were also in the race to sign Ceballos.

Now, according to reports from Mundo Deportivo, Betis are expected to return with offers for Ceballos in the January transfer window and will hope to snare him up from the Santiago Bernabeu.

Injuries to former Real Madrid star Isco and fellow midfielder William Carvalho have put Ceballos in high demand.

Betis manager Manuel Pelligrini is known to be a big fan of Ceballos, and is keen on adding him to his lineup. If the move does take place, the 28-year-old will move back to the club he last left in 2017 to arrive in the capital city of Spain. He has made 150 appearances for the LaLiga giants, recording seven goals and 14 assists.

Real Madrid are second in La Liga at the moment

It goes without saying that Madrid will be left poorer if Ceballos is allowed to leave in January, but sometimes, things move in entirely unpredictable directions in the world of football.

What will worry Dani Ceballos is that the likes of Federico Valverde, Jude Bellingham, Luka Modric, Aurelien Tchouameni, Eduardo Camavinga and even Arda Guler have edged ahead of him in the pecking order in Madrid's midfield.

This might also be the reason why he pushes for a move away from Los Blancos in the winter window. Even if Ancelotti wishes to keep him on as a squad player, it will serve Ceballos much better if he gets more game time at his former club.

Madrid went into the international break at the second spot of the league table with 21 points to their name, coming up just behind their arch-rivals Barcelona who have 24 points inside their kitty. Betis, on the other hand, are currently placed 10th with 12 points.
