Real Madrid Transfer News Roundup: Los Blancos eyeing PSG star, club plan Dani Carvajal renewal, and more - June 18, 2024

Real Madrid have gone from strength to strength under Carlo Ancelotti in recent seasons. The Italian manager has won a host of trophies since taking charge in 2021 for his second stint.

Meanwhile, Los Blancos are interested in a Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) defender. Elsewhere, the La Liga champions are planning to hand Dani Carvajal a new deal.

On that note, let's look at the major Real Madrid transfer stories from June 18, 2024.

Real Madrid eyeing Achraf Hakimi

Real Madrid could move for Achraf Hakimi in 2026, according to journalist Mario Cortegana. The Moroccan right-back rose through the ranks at the Santiago Bernabeu and currently plays for PSG.

Hakimi has long been linked with a return to his former club. Kylian Mbappe left the Parc des Princes to join Los Blancos this summer, and his close friend also remains linked with a move.

The La Liga giants have to eventually consider succession plans for Dani Carvajal, who is on the wrong side of 30. Hakimi is tailormade for the job, and with his contract expiring in 2026, a move could materialize next summer.

However, speaking recently as cited by Fichajes, Cortegana insisted that a transfer is more likely in 2026.

“He is a player who is liked, who is on the radar, and who fits because he is a world ‘top’ in his position, due to his versatility, and because he is a Madridista. Moreover, perhaps most importantly, he fits into the club’s policy of trying to go for players who are in a quite favorable contract situation," said Cortegana.

He continued:

“The timing would align. I don’t think he can leave in 2025 because he is at PSG and his future would be with Real Madrid. He would have to wait until 2026. It’s difficult.”

Hakimi appeared 40 times for the Ligue 1 champions in the 2023/24 campaign, registering five goals and seven assists.

Los Blancos plan Dani Carvajal renewal

Real Madrid are planning a new contract for Dani Carvajal, according to acclaimed journalist Fabrizio Romano. The Spanish right-back continues to deliver at the Santiago Bernabeu and has been key to the club's recent success.

Carvajal registered six goals and five assists from 41 outings across competitions in the 2023/24 campaign. The La Liga giants consider him to be a key part of their plans and are keen to end any speculation regarding his future.

Carvajal's contract with Los Blancos runs until 2025, and he remains settled at the club. Real Madrid are currently working on contract renewals for Luka Modric and Lucas Vazquez, with both expected to sign one-year extensions.

Once those are confirmed, the Spanish champions will initiate talks for Carvajal. The Spanish full-back is also likely to be handed a one-year deal, as is the club's policy for players above the age of 30.

Real Madrid make Alphonso Davies decision

Real Madrid will only pay €25-30m for Alphonso Davies this summer, according to Fabrizio Romano. The Canadian left-back is one of the best in his position in the world and is a long-term target for the La Liga champions.

Davies' contract with Bayern Munich expires in 2025, and he hasn't agreed to an extension yet. The Bavarians remain eager to tie him down to a new deal, but there remains a difference between the two parties regarding wages.

Davies has lowered his salary demand from €20m to €16m per year. The Bundesliga giants were previously offering €10m annual wages but have upped their offer to €13m.

Bayern Munich hope to convince him to stay and will only let him go for €50m this year. However, it is a fee that Los Blancos are unwilling to pay.

Real Madrid will only sign the player on their terms this summer. If a move doesn't materialize, they will wait for the player to become a free agent next year.
