Real Madrid Transfer News Roundup: Los Blancos eyeing Spurs ace; Real Betis want Dani Ceballos, and more - October 12, 2024

Real Madrid return to action in La Liga action later this month, when they face Celta Vigo on October 19 at the Balaidos. Carlo Ancelotti's team are second in the league after nine games, three points behind leaders Barcelona (24).

Meanwhile, Los Blancos have set their sights on Tottenham Hotspur defender Micky van de Ven. Elsewhere, Real Betis have retained their interest in Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos.

On that note, here's a look at the key Real Madrid transfer stories as on October 12, 2024:

Real Madrid are interested in Micky van de Ven, according to Fichajes. The La Liga champions are planning for defensive reinforcements in 2025, with Antonio Rudiger and David Alaba on the wrong side of 30.

Having missed out on Leny Yoro this summer, Los Blancos are keeping an eye out for other emerging defensive talents in the land. They have identified Van de Ven as an option, thanks to his impressive run with Tottenham Hotspur.

The 23-year-old joined the London side in 2023 and quickly established himself as a first-team regular under manager Ange Postecoglou. His efforts have turned heads at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Real Madrid believe that the Dutchman could be an ideal long-term partner for Eder Militao at the heart of their backline. The club are now contemplating an offer for Van de Ven.

Real Betis want Dani Ceballos in January

Real Betis are planning to return for Dani Ceballos this winter, according to Mundo Deportivo. The Spanish midfielder was a much sought-after player this summer, with multiple clubs hot on his heels.

Apart from Betis, AS Monaco also wanted Ceballos, but Los Blancos opted to keep hold of him at Carlo Ancelotti's behest. However, the 28-year-old has struggled for chances at the Santiago Bernabeu and remains linked with an exit ahead of the winter transfer window.

Ceballos has registered just three appearances across competitions for the La Liga giants this season and is now sidelined with an ankle injury. However, that hasn't deterred his former club, who are planning to return for him at the turn of the year.

Ceballos could be keen to leave in search of regular football. However, Real Madrid could consider keeping hold of him till the end of the campaign to help deal with their injury woes.

Los Blancos suffer David Alaba blow

David Alaba's expected date of return from injury remains unknown, according to AS. The Austrian defender ruptured his ACL in December last year and was previously expected to return to action next month.

However, it now appears that Alaba's recovery hasn't gone according to schedule, and he's unlikely to recover full fitness by November. The 33-year-old is now back on the pitch, working by himself.

He could be back in action in December, but there are no guarantees at the moment. It's highly likely that he may not be available this year and could only make his long-awaited return in early 2025.

While Real Madrid are concerned about the issue, they won't push for him to be available ahead of schedule. Los Blancos want the player to make a complete recovery before he returns to action.
