"Real quiet since he dropped the 'stay humble eh'" - Fans call out Erling Haaland for his showing in Manchester City's win over Wolves

Fans on X have called out Erling Haaland following another below-par performance in the Premier League against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday, October 20. The Manchester City striker fired a blank and had no major impact as his side secured a hard-fought 2-1 away win over Wolves.

The hosts took the lead in the seventh minute through Jorgen Strand Larsen. Josko Gvardiol equalized for City in the 33rd minute with a fantastic strike from the edge of the box.

Wolves put in a resolute defensive display and held the reigning champions at bay until second-half stoppage-time when John Stones scored a late winner for Pep Guardiola’s men.

Erling Haaland led the attack for the Cityzens and played the full 90 minutes. However, the Norwegian striker took zero shots, completed just six passes, and had just 13 touches in the match. He won none of the six duels he contested and created just one chance.

Haaland has now failed to score in his last three league outings. StatMuse FC on X pointed out that the 24-year-old has not scored since telling Mikel Arteta to stay humble during his side’s 2-2 draw against Arsenal in September.

Reacting to the post, fans called out the Manchester City star for his poor form.

One fan said:

"Haaland has been real quiet since he dropped the “stay humble eh”. Does he need to apologize to Arteta before his fortunes can turn around ??"
"Haaland hasn't scored or made any impact for 3 straight match now. Maybe Arteta had cursed him," another fan posted.
"Haaland Another stinker. Issokay," a fan wrote.
"Haaland had a howler though...," yet another fan added.

Erling Haaland still leads Premier League goalscorers chart despite dip in form

Despite not scoring in three consecutive league games, Erling Haaland is still leading the race for the Golden Boot. The Manchester City striker has notched 10 goals in eight league games so far.

Haaland scored in City's first five games of the campaign, including consecutive hat-tricks against Ipswich Town and West Ham United.

The players closest to Haaland on the top scorer's charts are Chelsea's Cole Palmer and Brentford's Bryan Mbuemo with six goals each. Danny Welbeck, Luis Diaz, Mohamed Salah, Ollie Watkins, and Nicolas Jackson have five goals each this season.

Haaland will hope to end his mini goal-drought when City play Southampton in the league on October 26.
