Rio Ferdinand and Gary Lineker rave about £60m-rated Arsenal target after his Euro 2024 heroics

Rio Ferdinand and Gary Lineker have heaped praise on Arsenal target Marc Guehi after England's win over Serbiain Euro 2024. Ferdinand claimed that the Crystal Palace star was not an emotional defender and remained fully focused on the game.

Ferdinand stated on BBC:

"He is 23 years old, he is captain of Crystal Palace already. I don't like emotional defenders, and he is not one of those."

Lineker was quick to add:

"I have liked him for a long time."

Arsenal are reported to be interested in the former Chelsea defender. The England star is said to be valued at £60 million by Crystal Palace with Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool also interested.

The 23-year-old made it to the England squad this summer after Harry Maguire had to drop out because of injury. He started in the central defense against Serbia alongside John Stones and helped the Three Lions keep a clean sheet in a 1-0 win.

Arsenal urged not to sign England star by former player

Mikael Silvestre has urged Arsenal not to sign Marc Guehi this summer. He believes that the Gunners have enough defenders and should be spending the money on getting a top striker to lead the attack.

He told BettingExpert in May:

"Marc Guehi is a good player. Would he be able to play for Arsenal? I'm sure he will. But normally with Kiwior, with Timber, Ben White, Tomiyasu, you have enough centre-backs. You have enough players to cover for William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes. You always need to bring players in, not many, but bring in for certain positions to either refresh or give competition."

He added:

"It is important to keep players on their toes with healthy competition. So, yeah probably number 1 is a striker, if you can. The one that is going to get 30 goals. Fantastic. That would mean business has been done properly. Other positions, Timber was injured this season but there isn't a lot that needs to be added to Arsenal. Maybe a few more attacking players."

The Gunners have been linked with Napoli star Victor Osimhen this summer after Chelsea reportedly backed out of the race. Paris Saint-Germain are also said to be interested in the attacker.
