Robert Lewandowski shares how he feels about Cristiano Ronaldo still being ‘angry’ and ‘nervous’ while playing

Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski has opened up about Cristiano Ronaldo's mindset while playing the game. The Polish star suggested that the Portuguese hero's driving force was his ambition and desire to succeed.

He said (via Barca Universal):

“Although he has achieved everything or almost everything, and he is 39 years old and approaching 40, it is clear that he has ambition, as he gets angry and nervous, and this shows his great ambition."

Lewandowski continued:

“I think if he didn’t have that anger, he might have looked like he was just playing for the sake of playing. But he clearly still has the desire, and he looks physically in very good shape, which shows that the path he chose was successful."
“Regardless of age, his numbers keep going up and not the other way around. Of course, he is an exception and there are very few exceptions like him,” he added.

Ronaldo has proven to be one of the greatest players in the sport's history, with his longevity particularly being a major contributor to his fame and success. Currently 39 years old, he is plying his trade in Saudi Arabia for Al-Nassr. He recently reached a stunning milestone of 900 goals in his career and opened up about the possibility of eclipsing the mark of 1000 scores.

Lewandowski also boasts an impressive scoring record with Borussia Dortmund, Bayern Munich, and Barcelona. With 417 goals and 107 assists in 552 league games, the 36-year-old is certainly one of the top marksmen of this era.

Robert Lewandowski's first-half hat-trick against Deportivo Alaves in La Liga on Sunday (October 6) took him to 10 league goals in nine games this season. With that, the Poland international joined Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo as the only players to score 10 goals in the league within the first 10 games.

Messi achieved the milestone in the 2017-18 season, collecting 11 from his first 10 while Ronaldo did better in the 2014-15 season, scoring 16 goals. With one more game to go for Lewandowski, it remains to be seen if he can increase his tally.

Lewandowski's sensational start to the season has helped Barcelona hold on to the top spot in La Liga, heading into the second international break of the season. With 24 points in nine games, they are three ahead of arch-rivals Real Madrid in second.
