Roberto Martinez provides injury update on 3 Portugal stars ahead of Euro 2024 clash against Georgia

Portugal boss Roberto Martinez has offered an update on the fitness of three of his players ahead of their final Euro 2024 Group F game against Georgia on Wednesday, June 26. Nuno Mendes, Goncalo Ramos, and Diogo Jota have all had struggles with injuries that have seen them train separately.

Martinez insisted that the trio are medically fit and will be eased back into the team.

The Spanish tactician confirmed that all three players will be available to play against Georgia.

"They are fit for the game. But I don't think they can play 90 minutes, they've only done one workout with the team, but they're medically fit." he said (via O Jogo).

Mendes has already featured in Portugal's first two games and will likely be rested ahead of the knockout ties. Ramos, who is yet to make his Euro debut, could feature against Georgia. Jota will also hope to make an appearance in the final group-stage game, having played only 27 minutes in the Selecao's 2-1 win over the Czech Republic.

Martinez will be glad to have the trio returning to the fold as the tournament heads into the knockout stages. Portugal will be keen to lift the European Championships for the second time in their history, with their first and only triumph coming in 2016.

Roberto Martinez not taking anything for granted ahead of Portugal's Euro 2024 clash against Georgia

Portugal manager Roberto Martinez insisted that he will take nothing for granted when his side lock horns with Georgia in their final Group F game. The Selecao have already qualified for the knockout stages of Euro 2024 by winning their first two games.

Ahead of the Georgia game, Martinez said (via Fotmob):

"We prepared the game to win. I believe the integrity of the tournament is essential. It is an important match because the result will show who will and will not be qualified. Georgia had a very interesting European Championship, could have beaten the Czech Republic in the last play of the match.
"They were very competitive against Turkey. We need to maintain the same focus and win," he added.

Portugal will be keen to end the group stage with a 100 percent win record. The 2016 champions have emerged as one of the best-performing teams at Euro 2024 and will be keen to maintain their performance levels against Georgia.
