“Ruining KDB’s legacy”, “Bro needs to quit football” - Fans blast Belgium star for first half display as Red Devils trail Slovakia in Euro 2024 clash

Fans were left unimpressed with Belgium striker Romelu Lukaku's performance in the first half of their Euro 2024 opener against Slovakia. The match was held at Deutsche Bank Park on Monday, June 17.

Slovakia opened their scoring with Ivan Schranz's goal just seven minutes into the match. Although the Red Devils created some chances and maintained better ball possession (52%) and pass accuracy, they failed to score in the first half.

Belgium national team head coach opened up about Thibaut Courtois not included in Euro 2024 squad

Belgium national team head coach Domenico Tedesco opened up on why Thibaut Courtois was not chosen for the Euro 2024 squad. The goalkeeper had an injury-riddled season as he ruptured the cruciate ligament in his left knee in August 2023. He later sustained a meniscus injury in his other knee in March 2024.

The Real Madrid star was absent for the majority of the 2023-24 season, making only four La Liga appearances, keeping clean sheets in all of them. Addressing Courtois' absence from The Red Devils' squad, Tedesco said (via Madrid Xtra):

"Thibaut Courtois has been very clear and honest. The latest information we have received is that he is not ready for the EURO."

Courtois joined Real Madrid from Chelsea in 2018. He has maintained 96 clean sheets in 235 appearances for Los Blancos. Al-Qadsiah goalkeeper Koen Casteels was chosen as the first-choice goalkeeper for Belgium in Euro 2024.
