Saudi Pro League club ready to make £30 million bid in attempt to sign Chelsea and Manchester United target: Reports
Saudi Pro League giants Al-Ahli are prepared to make an offer for Brentford star Ivan Toney, who has been linked with Chelsea and Manchester United. The English striker is expected to leave the Bees this summer after attracting interest from multiple sides.
Toney made headlines in the 2022-23 season with his tally of 20 goals and four assists in 33 league appearances for Brentford. He caught the eye of multiple sides, but a betting ban placed on the player effectively put paid to any plans to move elsewhere.
Chelsea and Manchester United have both registered interest in signing the 28-year-old England international, but a new party has joined the race. CaughtOffside reports that Saudi Pro League side Al-Ahli are prepared to submit a bid of £30 million to take the striker to the oil-rich nation.
Chelsea are in the market for a striker after seeing their deal for Spanish youngster Samu Omorodion fall through with Atletico Madrid. The Blues are reportedly willing to make a loan with an obligation to buy offer for Toney if they do not land their preferred target, Victor Osimhen.
Manchester United are also said to be willing to sign Toney after Rasmus Hojlund was ruled out for the start of the season with a hamstring problem. Erik ten Hag's side are left with only Joshua Zirkzee as their recognised striker for the best part of a month, leaving them needing to make a signing.
Al-Ahli have many ex-Premier League players in their squad, with the likes of Riyad Mahrez, Roberto Firmino, and Edouard Mendy on their books. With Toney's contract with the Bees set to expire in 2025, they may be able to add him to their squad if a deal is struck.
Jorge Mendes holds talks with Manchester United, Chelsea over transfers - Reports
Portuguese agent Jorge Mendes is in the UK to hold talks with Manchester United and Chelsea over moves for two of his clients. Fabrizio Romano reports that the agent is keen to secure moves for Manuel Ugarte and Joao Felix at the clubs.
Ugarte has an agreement in place with Manchester United on personal terms but a breakthrough is yet to be reached with respect to a transfer fee. Mendes will speak with the Red Devils to try and find an agreement with PSG to sign the Uruguayan midfielder this summer.
Felix, on the other hand, is involved in a complex negotiation between Chelsea and Atletico Madrid. The Portuguese forward is keen on a move to Stamford Bridge but the Blues are not prepared to match his club's valuation of him.
