Sergio Aguero banned from Twitch for 2 days because of Manchester City vs Real Madrid match

Sergio Aguero has been banned from Twitch for two days because of a copyright infringement issue that arose during Manchester City's UEFA Champions League triumph over Real Madrid.

The legendary former City striker regularly streams on Twitch, giving his opinion on games. He's often joined by popular personalities Ibai and Gerard Romero. He did so again during his former side's 4-0 (5-1 aggregate) Champions League semifinal win over Real Madrid on Wednesday (May 17).

However, Aguero mistakenly broke the rules by live-streaming the game, leaving a video of the match uploaded so that it could be viewed afterwards. He has an agreement with ESPN, Star+, and Disney to provide replays of goals and highlights for viewers, but the Argentine icon is not allowed to live stream the game, per AS.

Hence, Twitch detected that Aguero had broken the rules during the second half of the game while he was live on Star+. He has been slapped with a 48-hour ban from the platform. The legendary forward is already back streaming but will need to keep in mind such regulations in the future.

He watched on as Manchester City destroyed Real Madrid at the Etihad. Bernardo Silva grabbed a brace, while Manuel Akanji and Julian Alvarez were also on target. Pep Guardiola's men face Inter Milan in the final on June 10.

Aguero was part of the last City side to make it to a Champions League final. However, he was on the losing side as his team suffered a 1-0 defeat to Chelsea in 2021.

“This praise from someone who has managed the best teams in the world means a lot to me, so I hope to pay it back through my performances and by helping this club achieve the most we can."

Silva has been in fine form this season, scoring seven goals and providing as many assists in 52 games across competitions. He has been a key player for a Manchester City side chasing a continental treble.
