Sergio Ramos sends heartfelt message to Kylian Mbappe as latter scores his first UCL goal in Real Madrid colors

Former Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos praised Kylian Mbappe after the Frenchman scored his first UEFA Champions League goal for the club. Los Blancos defeated VfB Stuttgart 3-1 at the Santiago Bernabeu on Tuesday (September 17) with Mbappe netting the opener for his side.

The former Paris Saint Germain (PSG) forward put Madrid ahead in the 46th minute when he connected to a through ball from Rodrygo. The visitors drew level in the 68th minute through Denis Undav, but Antonio Rudiger restored Real Madrid's lead in the 83rd minute. Summer recruit Endrick then scored a late stunner to seal the game for Carlo Ancelotti's side.

With the goal, Mbappe took his Champions League tally to 49. He also entered the top 10 list of all-time Champions League goalscorers, overtaking the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Andriy Shevchenko. The 25-year celebrated by blowing kisses to the fans, recreating one of Sergio Ramos' famous goal celebration style while with the club.

The former Los Blancos captain was excited to see Mbappe open his Champions League account for the club and wished him more goals in the club's whites. He posted a collage picture of him and Mbappe on Instagram with the caption:

"How great my brother, for 1000 goals more… Enjoy!”

Kylian Mbappe and Ramos shared the pitch during the latter's two-year stay at PSG. The former Spain international joined the French club in 2021 from Real Madrid. He won two league titles and the Trophees des Champions with PSG before leaving for Sevilla in 2023.

Kylian Mbappe scores in third consecutive game after initial goal drought

Kylian Mbappe is slowly settling into life at Real Madrid. He joined Los Blancos in the summer as a free agent from PSG and was expected to bolster the club's attack with his proficiency in the final third.

He lived up to expectations by netting on his debut against Atalanta in the UEFA Super Cup. However, Mbappe fired blank in his first three La Liga appearances, which raised questions about his ability to lead the line for Carlo Ancelotti's side.

The Frenchman is now proving critics wrong, though, having scored in his last three outings for Real Madrid. He scored both goals in Madrid's 2-0 win over Real Betis and bagged another in the side's 2-0 win at Real Sociedad over the weekend.

Kylian Mbappe then opened the scoring in the 3-1 Champions League victory against VfB Stuttgart. In seven games across competitions, he has now recorded five goals and is the club's leading goalscorer this season.
