Serie A giants monitoring the situation of Real Madrid star amid rumours linking him with an exit from club in the summer - Reports

Serie A side Inter Milan are reportedly monitoring the situation around Real Madrid center-back Nacho Fernandez. According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, the Nerazzurri have revived their interest in the player after being interested in him last summer.

The 33-year-old's contract with Los Blancos is set to expire next summer and the report claims that it is unlikely that his stay will be extended. Other La Liga sides, including Cadiz and Sevilla, were also interested in him prior to the 2023-24 campaign.

Inter Milan have already approached the player's representatives, according to Fichajes. Since they are a foreign club, they can officially reach an agreement on a pre-contract in the winter transfer window. The Nerazzurri are aware of the competition and are looking to move quickly to complete a deal.

The 33-year-old is not a first-choice defender for Real Madrid but has been forced into action for longer than expected due to injuries to regular starters David Alaba and Eder Militao. He has made nine appearances in all competitions this season.

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti spoke about the side's mindset as they prepare to face Barcelona in a pivotal La Liga clash this weekend. Following the side's 2-1 win over SC Braga in the Champions League, the Italian tactician explained the changes he made to the side in preparation for El Clasico.

Speaking to the press, he said:

"I have a clear idea," Ancelotti said about Madrid's approach for Saturday's game. "After this game, it is pretty clear what we want to do. And that is to try to win. To do all we can to try to win. We have time to prepare. Today I changed the line-up a bit, because some players were a bit sore. [David] Alaba is back from an injury."
"The same for [Ferland] Mendy. It could have been risky, but the substitute players did very well. I liked a lot [Eduardo] Camavinga as a pivot. He played a great game. We will arrive in great spirits at this next important match."

Rodrygo and Jude Bellingham got on the scoresheet as Los Blancos secured a comfortable win over the Portuguese side. With three wins in three, they look certain to advance to the knockout stages.

Real Madrid will face Barcelona on Saturday (October 28) in La Liga. Ancelotti's side currently lead La Liga, with Xavi's Barcelona side just a point behind in third place.
