"Should be benched permanently" "Disgraceful footballer" - Fans slam Germany star for his performance in 1-1 draw against Switzerland

Germany fans on X have blasted Kai Havertz after the Arsenal forward struggled in their 1-1 draw against Switzerland at Euro 2024 (Sunday, June 23). Despite dropping two points, Die Mannschaft finished at the top of Group A with seven points, ensuring they progressed to the Round of 16 as group winners.

Robert Andrich found the back of the net with a stunning long-range effort in the 17th minute, but his goal was ruled out by VAR due to a foul in the build-up by Jamal Musiala. Switzerland stunned the Deutsche Bank Park against the run of play in the 28th minute after Dan Ndoye scored with a well-connected volley.

The Swiss appeared to have doubled their advantage in the 83rd minute following Ruben Vargas' goal but he had strayed offside, keeping the scores at 1-0. Germany struck at the death to rescue a point following Niclas Fullkrug's header in the second minute of stoppage time.

Havertz was entrusted to lead the line for Germany, however, he failed to make an impact despite playing all 90 minutes. The 25-year-old landed just one shot on target from six attempts, missed two big chances, and lost five duels.

One Germany fan posted:

"Havertz should be benched permanently."
