"Should break the bank to get him" - Pundit urges Liverpool to sign Real Madrid star as a 'ready-made replacement' for Mo Salah
Former Liverpool star Danny Murphy has urged the Reds to sign Real Madrid winger Vinicius Junior to replace Mohamed Salah at Anfield. The Egypt international has one year left on his current deal and could be exiting Merseyside at the end of the season.
Salah continues to play a prominent role for his club, having bagged nine goals and assists each in 16 appearances across competitions this campaign. Therefore, Arne Slot will need a reliable replacement, and Murphy believes Vincius could be that man.
Speaking about potential Salah replacements, he told Boylesports (via GOAL):
"On potential Mohamed Salah replacements, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is a really good player, similar to Luis Diaz or Cody Gakpo in running with the ball with his athleticism and his ability to make things happen, but he’s not prolific. He's not a goal threat for entire games.
"I've seen him play live a couple of times, I was at the Euros, I've watched him a lot. He's a terrific talent, but he's similar to what Liverpool have got in some respects."
He added:
"To replace Salah, the type of player you want is a ready-made replacement who you know is going to produce the same goods, if Vinicius Junior isn’t happy at Real Madrid and doesn’t want to sign a new deal then Liverpool should break the bank to get him because you know he'll produce the goods because he's one of the best players in the world. But that's unlikely."
Vinicius is an integral part of Real Madrid's team, and it is unlikely that Carlo Ancelotti would want to lose his star Brazilian. To date, the 24-year-old attacker has made 280 appearances across competitions at the Santiago Bernabeu, bagging 92 goals and 82 assists.
Liverpool could sign Bundesliga attacker if not Real Madrid's Vinicius Junior- Reports
Liverpool have reportedly identified Eintracht Frankfurt attacker Omar Marmoush as a potential Mohamed Salah replacement (via Sporting News). It is said that the Reds are looking to move for the player in 2025.
At that point, Marmoush will have two years left on his contract, providing the Merseysiders with some negotiating power over his transfer fee. So far this campaign, the Egyptian has made 14 appearances across competitions, bagging 12 goals and nine assists.
A move to Anfield would certainly be a big step for the 25-year-old. However, Marmoush has largely played down the middle in his career but possesses the ability to operate on the flanks as well.
